Gave up his career which was a good move, but misses the regular paychecks!! BUT now does small business marketing & Social media. Are you missing out?
Most people are addicted to their smart phones, so you may have noticed, there are not as many big billboards around any more. The main visited sites, are weather, News, Youtube, Kmart, Coles, Woolies, AFL, Facebook.
Now APPS are mostly used for facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Spotify, Snapchat, Netflix, EBay, Microsoft Outlook and many more.
This is the biggest challenge most of us have probably experienced as there is so many ways to reach out to someone, and to give them information.
Your social media apps like TIK TOK and INSTAGRAM will look more and mor alike as the companies behind them add long and bigger videos to turn content into cash.
Where to now for Business? It’s expected that by 2025:
• Customer lifetime value will become priority number 1
• Lead generation will be much less of a focus
• Marketing will become a technology hub, and
• General marketing skills will fall almost entirely out of fashion
What Will Change?
• As more consumers get used to the idea of buying almost everything online, small business owners need to have resilient systems to handle surges in online purchasing and protecting data.
• Small business owners need to think of new ways to create positive and safe experiences with their customers so they feel confident to shop again once the threat of the covid virus is over.
• We have entered the virtual ear and it impacts everyone. The pandemic has blurred the lines between work and home life. Anything that can be done virtually will be don virtually.
• Every business will need to have a public health plan for their workers and customers. Shopping and health experiences will go hand in hand. Small businesses will need to play a art in a healthy ecosystem to be a winner in the new economy.
• As more people stay home, home spending will rise. Our homes will be our workplace, and it will be important to make sure our little nest is comfortable. Small businesses that will rise in a post-Covid economy will need to consider more carefully what consumers and workers need to make their home comfortable, productive and safe.
• To stand out, small business will need to invest in becoming authorities within their industry. Customers will depend on credible recommendations to make smart purchasing decisions and small business owners will need to think about how to provide confidence in their service or product whether it is certifications, offering video education or partnership.
• Online commerce will be priority. The winners will be small business that have a digital commerce mindset and grow their existing offering online.
• Excellent customer service will be the differentiator between a business that is compassionate or indifferent. This does not seem like a new idea but, with the current emotional state of consumers and workers, adds to the challenge. And uncovering new ways to take care of workers and customers today will present small businesses with new opportunities to innovate and grow.
• Leadership as taken a deeper meaning in business. Our workers and customers are now discovering an unfamiliar world and it is changing faster than ever. Small business leaders will need to build on their emotional intelligence skills to handle uncertainty responsibly and lead their business with confidence, even when the business owner does not have all the answers.

R100 Garden
Three months have passed since the formal “opening “ of our R100 garden at the RFS/Girl Guide site. With some tender love from Anne and Tim Sharpe who covered the garden with leaf mulch and Rosemary who often weeds it on her local walks, it is flourishing.
Every plant is doing well, the DG’s plant is flowering along with several others. When you are in the area pop in to check up on it. It adds to the attractiveness of Cherrybrook.

“COVID -19 Variants and Vaccines, the Lockdown update”
COVID-19: Variants & Vaccines, the Lockdown Update - YouTube
The presentation was accurate as of 9th July 2021. Some widening of the age group acceptability for the AstraZeneca vaccine have been made since that presentation date.
The 2 main speakers were Internationally renowned experts in immunology and vaccine development, Professor Tony Cunningham and Professor Sarah Palmer.
I have attached a link to that presentation. It is well worth watching.
I also took some Notes and attach for those who only wish to get a quick grab - but the notes don’t do the presentation justice.
Kind Regards
Colin McGowan

How does an attorney sleep? First he lies on one side, then he lies on the other side.
I have a few jokes about unemployed people, but none of them work_
How do you make holy water? You take some regular water & boil the hell out of it.
Will glass coffins be a success? Remains to be seen_
What’s the difference between a hippo and a Zippo? One is really heavy and the other is a little lighter.
Two windmills are standing in a wind farm. One asks, “What’s your favourite kind of music?” The other says, “I’m a big metal fan.”
Hear about the new restaurant called Karma? There’s no menu - you get what you deserve_
I went to buy some camouflage trousers yesterday but couldn't find any.
What do you call a bee that can’t make up its mind? A maybe.
I tried to sue the airline for losing my luggage. I lost my case.
When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
A cross-eyed teacher couldn’t control his pupils.
She had a photographic memory but never developed it.
Is it ignorance or apathy that's destroying the world today? I don't know and don't really care.
I wasn’t originally going to get a brain transplant, but then I changed my mind.
Which country’s capital has the fastest-growing population? Ireland. Every day it’s Dublin.
My ex-wife still misses me. But her aim is starting to improve.
The guy who invented the door knocker got a no-bell prize.
I saw an ad for burial plots, and I thought: “That’s the last thing I need!”

What it takes to be a Rotarian
There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club. From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure. The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.
