Club President’s Message 2020-21
Rotary International is an amazing organisation – it is one of the largest and best-known international humanitarian groups in the world. What a joy and privilege to be part of that!
How wonderful it is to be involved with such a dynamic club as the Rotary Club of West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook.
This Rotary year there are many challenges but with planning and enthusiasm I am sure we will “give it a real go!”
Our International President, Holger Knaack, has chosen the theme “ROTARY OPENS OPPORTUNITIES.” What opportunities will we discover this Rotary year? New members? co-sponsoring a Rotaract Club? helping the youth in our area? reaching out to community members? ensuring those in Flores receive our help through our Nusa Tenggara Association (West Timor) project? keeping our image strong in the local media? continue to work with Coonabarabran Rotary club to help our “country cousins”? The list is endless!
As fundraising is an unknown quantity at the moment, our support will continue with NTA in Flores, community projects such as Tree of Joy, the Foundation and Polio Plus, Coonabarabran Drought Appeal (if needed) and our Rotary projects such as RYLA, RYPEN etc. When health restrictions change, hopefully our fundraising can continue maybe in an altered form.
Thank you to Keith, his team of board members and you, the club members, who ensured we had a remarkably successful year despite the onset of Covid 19.
We have seen that we can accept change. Who knew how to Zoom four months ago? Let’s keep the momentum going and adapt to the new way of Rotary happenings. We will all benefit.
