Legally Blonde SYMT - Hornsby RSL
Trivia Night - Cherrybrook Community Centre |
Legally Blonde
Legally Blonde is Proudly presented by SYMT
The story of Legally Blonde follows the journey of Elle Woods, a sorority-sister valley girl, who enrols at Harvard Law School to try to win back her former boyfriend, Warner. The musical is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown, and the 2001 the Metro-Goldwyn- Mayer motion picture of the same name, starring Reese Witherspoon. With music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and book by Heather Hach, the musical is a new take on this well-known and loved story.
The chosen night for a group booking is Friday July 15th. Come and See Max and Lynne Henderson's son perform.
The cost is $37 for adults and $32 for concession (including senior gold card holders). There are significant seats already booked for July 15th so I will book in those that have paid up by June 3rd to ensure we get a table(s) of 10 together. So far I have bookings for 9 (now 24) - Turnbulls, Sharpes, Makins and Hendersons so I will book these once I have payment.
For payment details see email from Colin Sharpe (24/5/16)
Update: Colin Sharpe reported that there are three seats available. If you would like to go let him know ASAP.
We are booked in for Friday 15th July. The show starts at 7.30pm. If you wish to participate in the optional group dinner in the Courtyard Room (Bistro) turn up about 6 pm to ensure getting a seat.
For those who wish to book tomorrow the cost is $37 /adult - concession for Senior Card Holders is $32.
If you have paid me already and do not have your tickets let me know and I will send again.

Trivia Night
.Save the date - Saturday 27th August 2016.
We are holding our annual trivia night on Saturday 27 August 2016 at the Cherrybrook Community Centre.
Save the date!
As with last year, it will be an enjoyable and affordable night at only $20.00 per person (no extra costs re the trivia rounds) with the only optional extras being a raffle and a separate activity at intermission (gold coin nearest the bottle).
Invite all your friends and relatives and start putting tables of 8 together (can accommodate 10 at a stretch).
We had around 200 people attend last year and we are targeting an additional row of 5 tables this year to get up to a record 240 people.
Last year we raised around $5,000 from the trivia night, so let’s all work on filling all 30 tables this year and beat last year’s total!
Steve Sims will be the quiz master again this year and we will have a new MC this year as Jim Simpson will be away.
You will have to guess who he is (Hint - he loves to have a microphone in his hand!).
We will start putting out lists at the meeting on Monday 18 July, which is a partner’s night.
Whilst we have asked all the local Probus Clubs and Rotary clubs to promote the trivia night at their meetings, we would like members to send the attached flyer to as many people as possible so that the trivia night gets maximum publicity.
For all the latest developments a website page has been developed by Andrew Little. Link

Words and a Bulletin from Denis
Hello Keith
Great things with your Bulletin ..... well done👍😊
I am doing a revamp of our Bulletin as I enter my 11th year 😱 hard to please some people
Unfortunately, I get little input , however, I am determined to be more proactive this year & if necessary include a blank page due to no information 😀
Patong Beach has 32 members spread over 12 nationalities so there are some issues here not experienced in RCWPHCB 😇
I will do a survey to determine whether the Bulletin is read by members
Attached is my final issue for 2015-2016
Best regards
PP Denis

What You Don't Know about the Campaign to End Polio
When was the last time there was polio in Europe? If you guessed 2002, the year the region was certified polio-free, you were wrong. The last time polio affected a child in Europe was last summer. In 2015, two Ukrainian children were diagnosed with paralytic polio, and, given the way the disease manifests itself, that means many more were likely infected and didn’t show symptoms. At least one Western news outlet deemed the outbreak “crazy” – but the reality is that no place on earth is safe from polio until the disease is eradicated everywhere. Ukraine...

President's Report 11th July 2016
Wow!!!! What an evening. It was so encouraging to see so many at our Assembly especially on a cold, bleak, almost rainy night. Thank you all for making the evening an interesting one. A special thank you to Barry and Charlie for agreeing to be our Sergeants. What would we do without you?!
Each board member addressed his/her area to outline the plans for the year. These were met positively by the club as a whole, with some great suggestions to improve a few initiatives.
If we all work together we can achieve so much more.
It was interesting to hear Jim Simpson’s life story. Now we know he was his high school’s captain and why he follows Collingwood. He is obviously very proud of his family so thanks for letting us get to know you Jim.
I’m looking forward to our first partners evening next Monday. Don’t forget to book in your partners to hear about Care Flight and have some fellowship as well. Remember District Governor Bruce Lakin wants us to enjoy our time in Rotary!
The first District Zone meeting is this Friday evening where we will find out further plans for the Zone dinner on September 3rd to be held at the Dural Country Club.
Let’s have fun and fellowship with new members whilst serving humanity.

President Rosemary Clarke welcomed everyone highlighting what a great club we have and thanked everyone for their involvement. Rosemary quoted our International Leader John Germ who asked people to consider “How are you making a difference in your community?”
Barry Freeman talked about a one day FaceBook course at Parramatta on the 24th July. We have 5 slots.
Barry also talked about “Writing good copy” would people be interested in a course to help members. This will be targeted for in late October.
Colin McGowan talked about a “Trade and Professional Register.” Everyone was in favour but before people are nominated they need to be reliable and pass the litmus test of “ Would you recommend them to your Mother?” It was agreed that people should be contacted to let them know they are going onto a register and they were agreeable to this. Stage 1 would be to help ourselves and monitor it for a year and then Stage 2 would be; can we take it wider.
Colin reminded us that he is the Welfare Officer and is happy to respond to any requests.
Tony Coote discussed the new Probus club being formed.
The New Club (Subject to confirmation) will be known as the Combined Probus Club of the Hills. This new club is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook.

Genie
A man, walking on the beach a found a bottle. He rubbed it and out popped a genie.
The genie said you know the drill, you get three wishes but I do things a little differently. How’s that is said the man?
The genie answered by saying that for every wish I give you every politician around the world will get double.
The man said that's ok, let’s do it - my first wish is for $100m.
The genie said, just remember that the politicians will get double that.
That's fine the man said, and for my second wish I want one each of the five worlds’ super cars.
Ok said the genie, but you what will happen?
I know said the man and for my third I want to donate a kidney
