CUC Community Chat |
Tuesday 16th August |
Hi all Rotary members.
We had our first event on Tues 2nd Aug with 18 participants, which was a great success. The next event of CUC Community will be on Tuesday 16th August starting at 8:00pm and finishing at 9:30pm. Location is Cherrybrook Uniting Church, 134 New Line Road, Cherrybrook. CUC Community Chat will provide an opportunity for people within our community to meet and engage in discussion on current affairs and important topics with occasional Guest Speakers. CUC Community Chat is broadly defined as: Meet, Listen, Respect and Share. It will be held on 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at Cherrybrook Uniting Church, 134 New Line Road, Cherrybrook. |
It is planned for the Facilitator to open the meeting and discuss the topic for some 10 minutes or so and then open it up to the meeting.
Tea and coffee will be available, or you can BYO if preferred. You could also bring beer/wine and nibbles if so desirable.
The two topics for Tues 16th August are:
1. State of the Environment Report – what should we be doing to better co-exist with our natural environment?
2. Housing affordability – how will this impact future society and what might we do to best manage the impacts for younger generations?
We are very excited about this activity and would love for you to support CUC Community Chat.
If you are interested in coming, can you please let me know.
Regards
Neville Hansen

2022 Trivia Night
We are holding our annual Trivia Night on Saturday 20th August at the Cherrybrook Community Centre. Ample parking is available. It will be an enjoyable and affordable night at only $20.00 per person (no extra costs re the trivia rounds) with the only optional extras being a raffle drawn at the end of the last round. Working on tables of 8, we can assist/coordinate/put teams together. Money raised will be donated to “Graces Place”, a unique place of healing and restoration for children affected by homicide. An inexpensive fun night out

What it takes to be a Rotarian
There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club. From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure. The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.
