On behalf of the Rotary Club of West Pennant Hills & Cherrybrook, we would like to thank all those who came and supported our 2022 Trivia Night last Saturday Night (20th August), which is now in its 11th year. We had a record attendance with around 240 people on 30 tables, which was a wonderful turnout.
Around $6,850 was raised, which is a great result for these more challenging economic times. The Club has added an additional $150 to bring the total to $7,000 to be donated to Graces Place.
Steve Sim our sensational quizmaster, who has donated his services every year for the last 11 years, was accompanied this year by Michael Parsons (President Hunter’s Hill Rotary). We would like to thank both Steve & Michael for a great night of trivia.
We would also like to thank the following groups for supporting our trivia night in coming along & participating, as well as buying raffle tickets:
Graces Place & Homicide Victims Support Group
West Pennant Hills Lions
Thornleigh Probus
Normanhurst Probus
Cherrybrook Combined Probus
West Pennant Hills & District Probus
Carlingford Men’s Probus
Beecroft Men’s Probus
Carlingford Rotary
West Pennant Hills & Cherrybrook Rotary Club
Hills Rotaract Club
McKelvey group
Napoli group
Elliot group
We also thank our sponsors and our raffle prize donors (see list below) who also contributed to the success of the night. A large percentage of the money raised came from the raffle.
We would also like to thank the Hornsby Council for waiving the fee for the hall at the Cherrybrook Community Centre, where the Trivia Night was held. This has helped us maximise the donation to Graces Place.
Funds raised from this event have been donated to Graces Place. The primary purpose of Grace’s Place is to provide a unique place of healing and restoration for children traumatised by homicide. It will be a place where they may be guided to believe in themselves and their future. It is being built in Doonside, NSW, on land made available by Blacktown City Council and Western Sydney Parklands Trust. The Centre is named in honour of Grace Lynch, mother of Anita Cobby and will include residential and counselling facilities. It will also be the new Head Office of the Homicide Victims Support Group (Aust) Inc. This facility is currently under construction & is due to open on 2nd February 2023. The money raised will go towards funding the fit out (around $800k), as the construction costs are fully funded. To find out more about Graces Place please click HERE
