February 2024 Update
A world of opportunities ahead!
In this update:
  • Your next impact driven role in Rotary awaits you today!
  • Discover your Rotary Community Group
  • Register to attend the next all member webinar
  • Find out what’s happening on the Regional Council

Dear Rotary and Rotaract members,
With brand new roles and groupings coming into place over the next few months, you’ll soon be able to take advantage of a whole range of opportunities as part of the Pilot: new opportunities to connect with other members, to collaborate with other clubs, and most importantly, to create a bigger impact in the world!

 Have you applied yet?
There are two new ways you can use your skills to help clubs in Zone 8 reach their goals and make a difference – but applications close soon!
Perhaps you’d like to help develop Zone-wide strategies, best practices and initiatives to strengthen Rotary in our region and increase our impact. If so, you should apply to be a Portfolio Committee Member.
Or maybe you want to use your skills to help clubs reach their goals and make a difference. If so, you’d be perfect for the Rotary Specialist role.

You might even be a good fit for both roles!

To learn more, watch a recorded webinar session with Regional Council Chair Dallas Booth and Pilot Specialist Lead Tania Broadbent, and download the presentation slides and speaking notes.

Apply before Thursday 29 February 5pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) so you don’t miss out!

Discover your Rotary Community Group
Last year, clubs throughout the Zone were asked to submit their preferences on how they’d like to be grouped with other clubs into Rotary Community Groups (RCGs).

RCGs are designed to foster greater collaboration between clubs so they can work more effectively and at a larger scale than they could on their own.
Clubs have now been placed into groups, accommodating their preferences where possible.

Find out now which clubs you’ve been grouped with!
Discover your rcg
Once your RCG has held its establishment meeting you’ll be able to nominate yourself to become a Rotary Community Leader (RCL), helping the clubs in your RCG thrive and grow. Consider whether you’d be a good fit for the RCL role!

What it takes to be a Rotarian

There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club.  From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure.  The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.

Don't need:
  • to be invited
  • to be of a certain age
  • to be male
  • to be a business person
  • to be retired
  • to attend meetings every week
  • to be available on weekends.

Must have:
  • a sense of humour
  • a willingness to give back to your community
  • a willingness to pitch in when required
  • some time available to help out on the occasional weekend event
  • an interest in the life of the West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook communities
  • a desire to contribute in some way to the running of the Club.

If you would like to come along as a guest to see what it is all about just call either: -
