President's Report
Hi All, well it was good to see everyone on Zoom on Monday plus we had a number of Guests join us which was good to see. We had 30 people join the meeting.

Updates from past week:
- Iisa, Anne, & Colin visited Coonabarabran and were attending the Coonabarabran Rotary Club meeting on Monday night. We might have trouble getting her home as she is having so much fun.
- International Student Commitment. Please remember this is a commitment by the Club. We all need to get involved and help the Host families. If you are going somewhere, please ask the Host Family if you can take Iisa. Multiple benefits, Good for you, good for Iisa, respite for the Host family
- Rotary Leadership Institute Courses (RLI): RLI is a training course offered to Rotarians to develop their skills in leadership and management within Clubs to improve performance, knowledge and enjoyment in leading or helping to lead Clubs in the District. The next course, currently open for registrations is 27-28-29 Oct 2023. Run via Zoom and starts on Friday night. Anne completed the course on 11-13 Aug and was very impressed and will talk about it more at our next meeting. Future dates are: 23-24-25 Feb 2024, 17-18-19 May 2024.
- There was a district Domestic & Family Violence Meeting on Thursday 14 Sept.
- Domestic and Family Violence: Domestic and Family Violence is a Zone and District project, and the Club will also be supporting this project. If you do not want to be involved that’s fine, if you want to get involved that’s fantastic but the Club will be supporting the District and Zone and be involved.
- We had a Board meeting last Wednesday, 13th September.
- The Vicar Stewards –We will try not having people designated to and it will be a volunteer role on the night but will document the Tasks in the Roles Document. People who arrive early can achieve this task. Will update the document on the Web and have a copy on the night.
- Federal 2023-24 Volunteer Grant: The Club submitted a Grant application through Julian Leeser under the umbrella of 2023-24 Volunteer Grants for a Generator at a cost of $1,500.
- Tree Planting: Kaye, David and Brooke Collins planted another tree at the West Pennant Hills Public School on Monday 18th September.

- Spring Cleanup: 9-10am Sunday 24th Sept, Pennant Hills Market Place, Pennant Hills - Kaye
- Busking competition at the Entrance: Sunday 24th Sept – Colin
- Our next big event is the Garage Sale on Sat 30th September at Cherrybrook Uniting Church between 8am and 3pm. We will have our own stalls: BBQ, Homewares, Cakes, Plants and Tools and we will sell off sites for Markets and Car Boot sale. The Flyer is in the Bulletin, and everyone has been sent a copy. The banners are up.

Member’s Talk: Janelle - Domestic Violence
Janelle is District Chair of the Domestic Violence committee, she advised there are now 5 teams. Purple T Shirts have been purchased by 45 Club members and a Café in Castle Hill have ordered another 5, which staff will wear on Fridays to support the cause. Community walks have been organised in Castle Hill and Hornsby and Assistant Governors have been advised to share with their Zone Clubs. Men’s Breakfast to be held on the 19th November to further raise awareness. CEO of Women’s Community Shelters, Annabelle Daniel will present a seminar via webinar on the 29th November. Annabelle has worked with local communities around NSW to establish and open ten shelters in as many years at Hornsby, Forster, Castle Hill, Penrith and Bayside.

Monica Sweeney introduced author Robert Salisbury, he was born in the U.K but considers himself a wandering citizen of the world, he grew up in three countries and has lived in another six. He has done at least twenty jobs, most of which he did not enjoy at all.
His books include Die Dollar Die, The Shadows and Over Population.
Robert enjoys reading, writing, cooking and walking in the countryside. He writes short stories limericks and rhymes as well as the occasional poem.
Time pressures prevented a Sergeant's Session.
President Neville thanked all attending, particularly Robert Salisbury, and Roman.

- Next event is the Garage, Car Boot Market Day 30th September at the WPH Uniting Church, Janelle thanked members who have offered help. All store holders in the Club’s database have been emailed with regards to the sale. Donations from the community are welcome and trailer required to collect goods next Wednesday from Galston. Janelle advised she will arrange a meeting of the Fundraising committee.

How to Control Slideshows
Your Editor has some control when initially producing a Slideshow. The speed can be varied from 3 to 9 secs. 5 seconds is the default. I have set this group to 6 seconds.
The viewer has other controls. If you wave the cursor over the picture, controls will appear at the Top Left and Top Right of the picture.

- Clicking on "Pause" will stop the rotation of pictures, and change "Pause" to "Play"
- Clicking on "Play" will allow picture rotation to re-start.
- Clicking on "Left Arrow" will index the picture back by one photo.
- Clicking on "Right Arrow" will index the picture forward by one photo.
- If you missed the punchline, clicking on the left arrow will allow you to re-read the now previous picture. You can restart picture rotation by clicking on "Play".
- If you wish to absorb the inanity/fullness of a slideshow you can, "Pause" rotation, and index forwards or backwards, picture by picture, as and when you are ready.
