The worst wildfires in the US in more than a century have caused loss of life, left thousands in need of emergency shelter, and reduced towns to ash. Your donation to the Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund will support immediate wildfire relief and long-term recovery efforts in affected communities.

Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) will be working with Rotary Clubs within the regions in providing assistance to affected communities. RAWCS has registered a Rotary Australia Relief Fund project to seek financial assistance. Donations are tax deductible.

September 2023 Update
Keeping you updated

In this update:

•Link to webinar recording and future webinar dates
•Regional Council election
•Like our new Facebook page

 Dear Rotary and Rotaract members,

Thank you to the over 300 people who attended our August webinars to hear the latest updates on the Regionalisation Pilot. You can view a recording of one of the webinars here.

Clubs and members are at the core of the Regionalisation Pilot and we are starting to implement some of the exciting opportunities the Pilot is testing.

We strongly encourage you to actively discuss what opportunities your club would like to explore. It is not about taking club activities or projects away, but the Pilot is a chance to expand your reach and increase your impact.

Regional Council Election

Next month, Rotary and Rotaract clubs will be able to cast a preferential vote for each of the nine Regional Council positions they are eligible to vote for. The Regional Council will represent and support clubs at a regional level, so it is important that you and your fellow club members consider which candidate will be best for each role.

Club Presidents, Secretaries and Treasurers will receive further emails in the coming weeks about the election process, and will soon need to confirm the correct email address to which the ballot should be sent. This is an essential step to ensure all clubs have their say.

You can view the candidates for each Regional Council role on the Creating Tomorrow website from Tuesday 3 October 2023.

Voting opens on Tuesday 17 October 2023 and closes on Tuesday 31 October 2023, with votes to be submitted by each club’s designated Club Officer.

Please note the above dates are in Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).

The Pilot has Facebook

We have just launched a new Facebook page to share information about the Pilot more frequently.
Like, follow and share our page with your club members to stay updated.

Upcoming Webinars

We look forward to seeing you at our September webinars via Zoom to answer questions on the Pilot, including about Rotary Community Groups, which Club Presidents and Secretaries will receive more information on this week. These sessions will be held on:

•Monday September 25 at 12.30pm AEST
•Wednesday September 27 at 6pm AEST
•Thursday September 28 at 6pm AEST

We encourage you to register to attend one of the above sessions via this link, and consider meeting up with your fellow club members to watch together and discuss. If you cannot attend a live webinar, you will be able to view a recording of one of the sessions on the Creating Tomorrow website.

For more regular updates and to be a part of our reference group, subscribe here. You can have your say by visiting creatingtomorrowrotary.org or emailing us directly at [email protected].

What it takes to be a Rotarian

There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club.  From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure.  The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.

Don't need:
  • to be invited
  • to be of a certain age
  • to be male
  • to be a business person
  • to be retired
  • to attend meetings every week
  • to be available on weekends.

Must have:
  • a sense of humour
  • a willingness to give back to your community
  • a willingness to pitch in when required
  • some time available to help out on the occasional weekend event
  • an interest in the life of the West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook communities
  • a desire to contribute in some way to the running of the Club.

If you would like to come along as a guest to see what it is all about just call either: -
Carol Russell (0418 431 157) or President Neville (0412 064 336)
