The Garage Sale
We have just had our best and most successful Garage Sale on the weekend of 7&8 October raising a record gross - north of $35k.
Excellent Project Management and a large number of dedicated volunteers, some putting in hours of effort, in the weeks before the weekend contributed to this result. |

Considering the number of members travelling or on leave of absence it was pleasing to welcome 21 members and 4 guests. Our guest speaker was Jason Miezis, the Principal at Cherrybrook Public School. Our other guests were Honorary member Brian Furrer, Jill Marquette, and Larissa.
Thank you Keith, for looking after last weeks meeting. The feed-back was very positive. Thank you Ricardo for standing in as our Sergeant-at-arms for last week and this week. It was noted that Ricardo has not lost any of his ability to extract fines. The combined meeting with Norwest Sunrise and other local Clubs on August 13th is in aid of Medicos in Bolivia. It will now be held at Springfield. We have 24 attending including 5 partners and Larissa. If you have not paid $40 per person please pay next Monday or direct deposit to the Club general account. The Hills Rotaract Club is in the process of being revived. I attended a meeting of potential members and supporting Rotarians on July 18th. Kirsty Webb (ex Rotaract) from the Norwest Sunrise Club is leading the revival. Our club will partner with The Hills Rotaract Club and provide them support along with the other surrounding Rotary clubs. |

He wanders over to a bar stool and asks the bartender for a shot of Jack Daniels.
He sits there for a while, then calls out to the bartender. “Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?” At that point the entire bar falls deadly silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, “Before you tell that joke, cowboy, I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things:
The blind cowboy thinks for a second, shakes his head and mutters, “No, not if I’m gonna have to explain it five times.” |
Looking for a good job on the Murray River ??
Sally Mulligan of Paddington NSW decided to take one of the jobs that most Australians are not willing to do. Sally applied for a job in a lemon grove and seemed to be far too qualified for the job. She has a liberal arts degree from the University of Adelaide and had worked as a social worker and a school teacher. The foreman frowned and said, "I have to ask you, have you had any actual experience in picking lemons ??" "Well, as a matter of fact, I have," she said. "I've been divorced three times, owned two Jeeps, voted twice for Labor, and once for Clive Palmer.” ........ She starts in the morning. Tony C
