In the Next Room or the Vibrator Play By Sarah Ruhl
Directed by Meredith Jacobs
In the Next Room, or the vibrator play is a provocative, funny and touching story about a doctor and his young wife.
Set in 1880s New York, enthusiasm is growing among the well-to-do for the miraculous new electric light bulb. The earnest Doctor Givings however, has been working on his own strange electrical device, designed to cure female hysteria . . . the Chattanooga Vibrator.
Curious and not a little frustrated, his wife Catherine watches as more than one patient leaves with a renewed flush of health and a desire to return for further treatment. As a mere bystander in her husband’s world, she must take matters into her own hands to discover what is going on in the next room.
“Ruhl has written a smart, charming, iridescently funny-serious jewel.” Bloomberg News
ADVISORY: This play contains adult themesBy Arrangement with ORiGiN™ Theatrical On Behalf of Samuel French A Concord Theatricals CompanyWe will be serving cheese and wine in the foyer before the play, as approved by the Board of the Pavilion Theatre. The doors will be open from 7:30pm, with the play starting at 8:00pm. Invitation to visit RC Pennant Hills
Hi Neville,
Trust you have settled in as the president of your club. I just wanted to confirm the details of the meeting we invite you and your members to come to on Wednesday August 2nd.
We have Tim Sowden coming to speak about the Thornleigh Zig Zag Railway, which has generated a lot of interest lately.
We meet at the Pennant Hills Community Health Centre, 5 Fisher Avenue, Pennant Hills at 6.30 for a 7.00pm start. We’ll have tea and coffee available but a reminder that there is no meal available. Could you let me know a day or so before how many we can expect to join us on the night.
Regards,
David Firth

What it takes to be a Rotarian
There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club. From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure. The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.
