The park has been refurbished at a cost of more than $3.4 million. The new-look park was officially opened by Her Excellency Prof Marie Bashir, Governor of New South Wales, in March 2004 and features excellent interpretative signage on the colourful history of this park.
The park’s features include concrete walking tracks, picnic areas, playground and public toilets in a heritage-listed site within a bushland setting.
With its 20 hectares of rolling landscaped hills and remnant Blue Gum forest, Heritage Park is a great location for family picnicking, walking and learning about nature. It is the birthplace of Castle Hill

Conflict and violence displaced more than 68 million people in the past year, and half of those are children.
We refuse to accept conflict as a way of life. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and provides communities with the skills to resolve conflicts.
HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN
Through our service projects, peace fellowships, and scholarships, our members are taking action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, inequality, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.

President's Report 11th February 2019
President Colin welcomed 30 members, 5 partners and 4 guests present tonight (total 39). Thomas Leonie and Sarah Kelloway were welcomed as guests of Carol and David and Kerry Pope as guests of Ros. The partners present were Rob, Helen, Jill, Bev and Anne. Thomas gave us an insight about being a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
Thank you to Bill and the BBQ team for turning out a short notice to run a short notice BBQ at Bunnings Dural last Sunday. Bill, Kerry, Peter Stanton, Keith, Janelle, Colin McGowan, Andrew added $602 to our fundraising account. Then Ros, Gino, Bev, Bob, Jill, David, Anne and myself had a fabulous time weekend at Oberon and Jenolan Caves. The self-drive approach worked well. The District Conference group has settled on the dress theme for Rotary Rocks at the dinner and the decoration for the gnome. Next week is Youth and Partners night so please come along and hear from our RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awareness Program), RYPEN Rotary Youth Program and of Enrichment and Youth Exchange young people. |
A reminder that Neville is looking for 20 helpers at the NAB RunWest Festival on 31st March 2019 at Rooty Hill RSL so please consider asking family and friends to help. We have the potential to raise around $6000.
A reminder that Carol is no longer able to continue as attendance office due to work pressure. Please consider offering your services. It is not an onerous job to record members who are not attending and partners who are.
There is a Board meeting at Peter Stanton’s next Wednesday. Please send in your reports.
Thank you members partners and guests for coming along tonight to hear about, and see a wonderful journey around the Antarctic Peninsula and South Georgia Islands.
Please support Rosemary and the Book Sale team as this is our second most important source of funds to help our charities. This year the theme charities for the Book Sale are Saving our Kids, Angel Flight, and Operation Hope.
Next Week Keith takes over as acting President until April 9. I am sure Keith will do a sterling job. See you all on April 15th which is our combined club meeting.
President Colin.

Keith announced that our 4th of March meeting will be held in Heritage Park and will take the form of a social BBQ.

Carol’s guest Thomas Leonie then described his move from Switzerland to Australia as part of a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship and
his decision to complete his studies in Australia and ultimately become an Australian citizen.

This Week's Humour
A Smile for Today
A burglar broke into a house in mid-afternoon one day.
He tied up the woman and at knife-point told the man to hand over the jewellery and all the money and credit cards otherwise he’d hurt her.
The man sobbed and said, “You can take anything you want, it’s all here. You can kill me if you must, but please untie the rope and free her.”
Burglar: “You must really love your wife.”
Man: “No, but she’ll be home shortly.”
Jim
*A Woman goes to a Psychiatrist and complains: “I don't want to marry. I am educated,* *independent, and self sufficient. I don't need a husband. But my parents are asking me to marry. What do I do?”*
*Psychiatrist replied : “YOU, undoubtedly will achieve great things in life. But* *somethings inevitably will not go the way you want. Somethings will go wrong. Sometimes you will fail. Sometimes your plans won't work. Sometimes your wishes will not be fulfilled. Then who will you blame?*
*Will you blame Yourself?”*
*Woman: “NO!!!”*
*Psychiatrist: “Yes... That's why you need a Husband!”*
