Latest Update From Amelia (our outbound student in Switzerland)
Hey everyone!
I hope everyone is going good back in sunny Sydney during this holiday season!
It is freezing here, I mean cold as! Currently minus degrees outside and I'm rugged up to the max!
I've had a great time since I've updated you all.
Every exchange student in Switzerland went to Matterhorn as our final weekend away with rotex- was very sad but very beautiful.
Unfortunately last Saturday, was my last Handball match with HC Amriswil. I've really enjoyed my time with these girls and it's been one of the best times of my exchange- I am very sad to leave them.
I hope everyone back home has a safe and merry Christmas- I'll see you all very soon!
Liebe Grüße,
Amelia.

DIK - Letter of Thanks
President Rosemary,
Could you please pass on my gratitude to the members go your club member who assisted in the packing of our 40 foot container of hospital equipment including beds, humidicribs, anaesthetic machines and other medical equipment for Santo Hospital. Included in the container building materials and water tank for the Area Provincial School on Vanua Lava animal island in the remote northern part of Vanuatu.
Their commitment to the ideas of “Service above Self” and to Serve Humanity is to be commend.

Tree Of Joy
Together with the Cherrybrook Village Centre Management, the Club's Tree of Joy at the Cherrybrook shopping centre has been a great success with presents being received for 800 requests on cards placed on the tree. In addition, a further 100 presents were received without requests.
The requests were created by the various charities that the Club has a relationship with, including Wesley Mission and Paramatta Mission. These requests were for Christmas presents for disadvantaged people in their care and included a short message to identify the reason they required the present. Anonymity was kept at all times, with only codes to identify each recipient that only the charity could identify.
As you can see from the photos below of all the presents in the Turnbull's garage prior to sorting into the various charities 900 presents takes up a lot of room.
We would like to thank the very kind, generous people that donated presents to the Tree of Joy, who made this year's Tree of Joy such a great success.
The Club would also like to thank the Cherrybrook Village Centre Management for their support and cooperation.

Club's Child Protection Manual
Fellows
Attached to this email is the Club's Child Protection Manual, agreed to by the Board, that we are required to have by law. You are encouraged to become familiar with the requirements as stated in the manual.
As you would know by now this is a serious matter for all clubs and associations that work with children as part of their regular operations. This club has a big focus on youth with a significant amount put aside each year for our youth activities so it is an important issue for us. All members should by now have their working with children clearance, or be in the process of obtaining same. If any member is having problems with their applications please let me know.
The manual will be uploaded to our website (click here) and any future changes will be made to the website version. You will be advised when these occur.
