Beauty and The Beast - SYMT
Christmas Lunch at Springfield House starting at 11.30 AM. Details are below, or click here to go straight there |
SYMT - Beauty and the Beast
Sydney Youth Musical Theatre is putting on Beauty and the Beast at Hornsby RSL in Mid Nov. This show will be put on by the under 21 age group performers. Thirty club members attended SYMT's previous show, Legally Blonde, in July. A club group booking is going to be made for Friday 18th November, at 7.30pm. Please let Colin Sharpe know by 30 October if you are interested in going.
Proudly presented by the Sydney Youth Musical Theatre
Based on the Academy-Award winning animated feature, the stage version of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
When Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive. Maurice's daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save his life. Belle's taming of the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation into a handsome prince enthralled Broadway audiences for over 13 years.
SYMT is now in its 39th year of staging productions in the Sydney region, and it remains the largest exclusively youth musical society in Australia. Each year, we stage two productions: one in July for our 14-25 year old members , and one in November for our 10-18 year old members.
The Social Leadership Team invites all members partners and their children to the Club Christmas Lunch that is being held on Sunday Dec 11th at Springfield House starting at 11.30 AM.
The cost will be $60 per person for adults and $TBA per child up to 14 years. As in recent years Kris Kringle will be held at the same time and Santa will harness up the sleigh and fly in with his elf in attendance. It is recommended that Kris Kringle gifts be in the order of $10. Gifts for the children will be at the club's cost.
This will be a great event, so all come along!

President's Report 7th November 2016
Amazing! Cutting edge! Impressive! Immaculate!
These were some of the words that applied to our Vocational visit to Tom’s Alfresco Shades on Monday evening. Everyone was impressed with the whole set up and with a lovely meal as well. Thank you so much to Tom, Annette and their team for a wonderful evening.
Also thank you to Cawas, Rashna, Douglas, Kaija, Barry and John for making some senior citizens day last Sunday at the ARV. A BBQ was cooked with salads, desserts and wine/beer and the recipients were very grateful for a fabulous afternoon. Serving humanity certainly.
We look forward to the Foundation lunch that has now become a dinner on Monday 21st November at Teresa and Marc’s home. Please contact either Colin Sharpe or Teresa with numbers as it will be a great evening. The cost is $30pp. The members will be contributing $26:50 towards the Centenary of the Foundation. Those members who are unable to attend may pay their $26:50 at the next meeting.
As we head into November, we will notice the Tree of Joy at Cherrybrook village. Thank you to Brian and his committee for the hard work of getting participants. Again serving humanity in its very best form.
Don’t forget the AGM coming up on December 5th. It is a wonderful opportunity to get more involved at board level to find out a little more about Rotary and all its wonderful programs.
Have a great week everyone.
Rosemary

Night Report 7th November 2016
Vocational Visit to Alfresco Shades, Riverstone
Tom Westcott kindly hosted our visit to his factory where we were provided with a smorgasboard dinner including drinks, sweets and coffee all for our normal $30/h cost.
Tom kindly donated all proceeds to the Prostate Research Foundation in memory of our past member Rob Hamer.
On our arrival we were greeted by brightly covered tables, complete with flowers, set up in the factory. Business was kept to a minimum and after much socialising by the 36 people present we were given a tour of the Factory in two groups.
Tom has certainly improved the layout and organisation of the premises in the last 12 months. He also explained his vision for the future and his passion to involve his workers in the running of the business.
With a lot of hard work Tom has doubled his turnover and still provides a quality locally manufactured product with follow up service.
Well done Tom
