Presidents Report
Hi all, tonight we had some 37 members and partners attend our meeting at The Vicar. It was a good meeting with lots of fun and laughter and a good chance to test out all of the Vicar’s facilities. It was good to see Pat Baseley and Karen Lambert visited us to understand what Rotary is all about.
We played a video of Dr. Shahzad Asif Baig who is leading the “End Polio Now“ program in Pakistan and] talked at the 2023 Melbourne Convention. A very emotional talk as Dr. Baid also talked about the people who have died in achieving this goal.

All 19 districts in Zone 8 (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands) have agreed to take part. Together we hope to make a significant difference during this Rotary year.
This committee hopes to enact DG Christine Owen's vision to:
- Have all 5 clusters of clubs across the District participate in a walk in their patch raising awareness about Domestic and Family Violence. We need to work hand in hand with other organisations, NSW Police and Councils to stand up and being counted. It is likely that the walks will be held during the United Nations 16 Days of Activism Nov 25th -Dec 10th 2023. The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai patch have set their date for Dec 6 in association with the Hornsby Council.
- Have every one of our 66 clubs involved in a DV project of some sort. Many already have projects on the go. Those clubs unable to start or continue a project will be encouraged to hold a fund raiser (eg a raffle or BBQ) to raise funds to hand over to a club for use in their project. A great opportunity for collaboration between clubs.
- Hold an event (½ day seminar as a fund raiser) with some speakers/experts in the field of Domestic Violence. If you know of some great speakers please let me know. Date and venue yet to be determined.
- Work with training programs eg Love Bites (NSW Government program) in high schools specifically to raise the bar with our young people about respectful relationships.
- There will be T-shirts to order and purchase.
Janelle will keep us updated on the work of this Committee, as well as how our Club will be joining in and actioning these initiatives.

They also collect donations at the Farmers Market every Thursday morning. Wow!!

The other day my neighbor, who is blonde, came running up to me in the driveway just jumping for joy! I didn’t know why she was jumping for joy but I thought, what the heck, and I started jumping up and down along with her.
She said, “I have some really great news!”
I said, “Great. Tell me why you’re so happy.”
She stopped jumping and, breathing heavily from all the jumping up and down, told me that she was pregnant! I knew she had been trying for a while so I told her, “That’s great! I couldn’t be happier for you!”
Then she said, “There’s more…”
So I asked, “What do you mean ‘more’?”
She said, “Well, we are not having just one baby. We are going to have TWINS!”
Amazed at how she could know so soon after getting pregnant, I asked her how she knew. She said…
“Well, that was the easy part. I went to Wal-Mart and they actually had a home pregnancy kit in a twin-pack. Both tests came out positive!”
