President's Report
Hi all,
We had 21 people attend the Vocational visit to Western Sydney International Airport Experience Centre on Monday at Luddenham. The storm caused us a couple of problems getting there but the overall experience and seeing what they are building was amazing. Colin S has done a fantastic Night Report on the visit. When the airport opens in late 2026 which is stage 1, it will be able to cater for some 20 million people and when stage 4 is complete in 2062 the airport will be able to cater for 80 million people. A very large project. Thanks for organising Kerry.

Updates from past week:
- Visioning: I have circulated the visioning data to everyone and will talk to these documents on Monday 4 March. The Board ratified the Club’s Vision statement to be:
The Club is built on a strong sense of community spirit, fun and friendship and sees actively engaged members focusing on making a difference in communities and to those less fortunate than ourselves. - Regionalisation: Applications are now open for two exciting new roles being introduced to Zone 8: the Rotary Specialist and Regional Council Portfolio Committee Member. Everyone should have received an email on this. Nominations close Thurs 29 Feb. Please have a read.
- Regionalisation: District 9685 was allocated 5 (five) Regional Community Groups (RCGs) that in general fitted quite well with our existing clusters. The first RCG meeting will be on Thursday 7th March and Colin S and myself will be attending. The first meeting is a meet and greet and discussing a leader for the Group.
- District Conference – The District 9685 Conference is on Friday, Sat 15-16 March at Terrigal and the theme is “Good Vibrations - Beach Party”. Friday is now full but there is plenty of availability on the Saturday Plenary Sessions for $120. It is always a very good event so would be good to see more people attending. We have 16 people attending to date.
- The Board has agreed to donate $1,000 to RAWCS for the North Queensland Floods.
- We have our Annual Giant Book Sale coming up on 8, 9, 10th March at Cherrybrook Uniting Church, and had our second Book Sort on Saturday at the Church. Thank you to all who volunteered and everyone on the House Drop Off and Phone roster.
- International Night is on Monday 26 Feb where Janelle and Andrew will talk about their Trip to Flores in October 2023 and Peter will give an overall update on the Project. We have invited a number of external guests and Donor Clubs. Please feel free to wear something with an International Theme.
- International Student Commitment. Please remember this is a commitment by the Club. We all need to get involved and help the Host families. If you are going somewhere pls ask the Host Family if you can take Iisa. Multiple benefits, Good for you, good for Iisa, respite for the Host family
- Rotary Leadership Institute Courses (RLI): RLI is a training course offered to Rotarians to develop their skills in leadership and management within Clubs to improve performance, knowledge and enjoyment in leading or helping to lead Clubs in the District. Carol is now attending the course on 23-24-25 Feb 2024, and the next course after this is on 17-18-19 May 2024. Run via Zoom and starts on Friday night. Full details in the District Newsletter.
That’s it for the week so Let’s look after each other, stay safe and let’s do it.
Remember to check “What’s On” for what’s on. Yours in Rotary Neville Hansen |

Italian Restaurant ... contributed by Cawas
There was an Italian restaurant where the waitresses were hand-picked for their beauty.
Many men flocked to this Restaurant not because for the food but to ogle the beautiful waitresses.
On the opening day a rich but a miser drove up in his posh car.
He picked a table served by one of the prettiest girls.
She served him a full course dinner and was looking forward to a good tip.
However, the guy put just four Liras as tip.
She was furious and picking up the tip told him with the four Liras she could tell him something about him.
She said, "the first Lira tells me you are a rich man".
He said, "fairly rich."
“The second Lira tells me you are fond of good food."
He said, "Yes you are right that was the reason I came to the Restaurant."
She then said, "the third Lira tells me you are a bachelor.”
He said "you guessed right.
What does the fourth Lira tell you".
By now he was extremely curious to find out more
She said, "the 4th Lira tells me that your father too was a bachelor."
