President's Report
Hi all,
This was our first meeting for two weeks due to the Book Sale and The District Conference. We had our Youth Night which was organised by Cawas and what a great night is was. We had approximately 40 people attend.
We had our current Incoming Exchange student, Iisa talk about her trips to NZ, her Safari to Adelaide/Kangaroo Island and the red centre of Australia. We had two Students report on their experience at RYPEN in January. We also had a student who attended the Engineering Summer
School which was very interesting. It was also great to hear from a young adult who we sponsored to attend RYLA and he found it very inspirational. Our Outgoing Exchange Student, Georgia
who is in Chile provided us an update via video of her experiences to date. All in all, a great night
and the Youth made us proud. Thank you also to all the parents and carers who escorted the
youth to the event and thanks to Cawas for organising the night.
Updates from past week:
The Club was founded on 20 March 1987, happy 37 years young to our Rotary Club.
Last week there was 16 members of the Club who attended the District Conference in Terrigal. It
was a very enjoyable Conference and a few highlights are:
o Friday afternoon was the walk for Domestic and Family Violence.
o Friday Night was the Dinner and we won the Best Dressed competition and the
theme was “Beach Party – Good Vibrations”. Thank you to Pamela and Jill for their
vision and inspiration.
o Saturday was Plenary Sessions, and the Showcase and Janelle was the MC for the
day. Janelle did a fantastic job and there were lots of very good quality speakers.
o A very good conference overall.
Looking forward:
Please remember District Assembly for all incoming Board members is on 4 May 2024, and the
Venue TBC.
Friendship Dinners – Anne has asked for people who would like to attend. These are fun
nights and a very good way to get to know other members and partners. We normally
have 3 to 4 hosts and then participants are allocated to these hosts and dinner is arranged.
I encourage everyone to get involved. Thanks Anne for organising this.
Board Meeting-
o Board approved a Youth Exchange Student for next year on the condition we
can get enough Host families. Please consider being a Host family and contact Cawas for further information.
o The Board has approved Honorary Membership for Jim Simpson and Max Henderson.
These will be presented on Monday 15 April.
Relocation of shipping containers from Galston. A disappointing response from Hornsby Council.
We had a meeting with Sallianne McClelland and Warren Waddell on Tuesday 5th March and are
now waiting on a response.
International Student Commitment. Please remember this is a commitment by the Club.
We all need to get involved and help the Host families. If you are going somewhere pls ask
the Host Family if you can take Iisa. For example, the Footy on Friday night or something
you like to do i.e. go out for dinner. Involvement in Iisa has multiple benefits, Good for you,
good for Iisa, respite for the Host family

(RCGs) that in general fitted quite well with our existing clusters. The first RCG meeting
was held on Thursday 7th March and Colin Sharpe and I attended. The first meeting
was a meet and greet and discussing a leader for the Group. They are now looking for
nominations for the Regional Community Leader and nominations close at the end of the
month. If you are interested, can you please contact me.
