So what is this page about?
Well, its about a young lady called Brittany Bickford.
Brittany was sponsored by our Club as an exchange student for calendar 2011. She spent virtually all of this time in Denmark, apart from a Eurotour with other exchange students plus trips to Sweden, Germany & England, and a quick visit home to her sister's wedding.
Brittany ran a blog that covered this exchange visit. This page covers most of the blogs for the exchange visit.
Like all blogs the first entry is at the bottom of the page (and last at the top).
There are a lot of entries. It may take a while to read or you may need several visits.
To assist you a navigation system has been employed. Below you will find a list of months. If you "click" on a month then you will be taken to the first entry of that month.
If you just want to start and see how you go click Start.
Of course you can always just keep browsing and read the blog "backwards".

Return
So I haven’t posted in a long time really. I’ve been home now for about 3 weeks now and it feels great to be home although I do miss Denmark quite a lot. This past year has been fantastic. Since being home I’ve been camping for a week, and then sitting on my ass for the last two, except for when I went to work which is a new job I have, thanks to my friend. I guess I’ll write something more detailed soon but I’m a little distracted right now watching tv.

Once again, its been awhile
I know it has been a while since I posted anything…again. I have just one and a half months left in Denmark now so I have been packing boxes and sending things home as I can only take 20kgs in my suitcase when I come home and I have definately bought quite a lot of stuff in my year away.
A few weekends ago I had my last get together with Rotary and the other exchange students from all over Denmark. I guess we are lucky in Denmark to be able to have a get together with ALL of the exchange students in the country since the country isn’t that big. It was the last time I got to see some of the oldies and also the first time I got to meet the newbies but for some, it also meant it was the first and only time I got to meet them and they are really nice kids. The weekend away was fantastic and so much fun. We had a party on both Friday and Saturday night which went until the early hours of the morning, with Saturday being a halloween dress up party. Everyone got dressed up in some way, it was so good to see. We also got to do pretty much what ever we wanted to do on the Saturday as the people that were organising the weekend were Rotex people, so rebound exchange students. It was actually really nice to have nothing really planned for the weekend as we could sit around and chat with each other and catch up or make new friends from all over the world. When I came home I had enough pins and cards to finish covering my blazer because of all the newbies that had arrived in August. Really there is a lot of them that arrive in August. Over 2/3rds of the exchange students in Denmark are newbies. It really was a great weekend. I didn’t take my camera with me though as it was going to be too much of a hassle, although others did bring their cameras and took many photos.
For thanksgiving, although we don’t celebrate it at home and they don’t celebrate it in Denmark either, they do in my district in Denmark for the exchange students as it is at a good time for the newbies, oldies, outbounds and rebounds to all meet up. The Inbound, which is the newbies and oldies, were asked to do some entertainment for the evening, preferrably something from our countries, so I did two things that were Australian. One of the other exchange students from Aus and I had a conversation with each other on stage, a scripted conversation of course, which had as much Aussie slang we could put in as possible. We had a powerpoint presentation going on behind us which had the actual English translations for what we were saying. People were laughing the whole time so obviously it was good. The other Australians then came up on stage and we sang Give Me A Home Amoung The Gum Trees, a very Australian song that was known for being on Burke’s Backyard. We even made then get up and dance the chorus part with us. It was a really good evening and I got to meet some of the rebounds who were really nice, although I unfortunately didn’t get any of their names.
Christmas is starting to settle in around Denmark and in Copenhagen with Christmas lights going up through the walking street in town. Tivoli, the main amusement park in Copenhagen, has also opened up again for the Christmas season and has Christmas lights and decorating everywhere and it looks fantastic, although I haven’t had the chance to take any photos yet, but I might have the chance to tomorrow. The Christmas feeling is definately being felt by everyone now even though it is just under a month away.
This year has definatley gone by so quickly and has defiantely been a fantastic experience for me. I’ve also started putting together my final presentation for Rotary which I am giving two days before I leave. Trying to find out what to put into it and what to say is definately hard but I think I have figured it out. The idea of leaving is such a hard thing to grasp and I know I will definatley miss everyone I have met this year and some I probably will never see again, which is sad. I’ve definately developed a love of travel this year while I have been away which means maybe keeping in touch with all of these people won’t be so hard as I will definately be travelling more in the many years to come :)

agathaindenmark asked: Hej Brittany! Jeg hedder Agatha. I'm one of the two people going to Denmark from District 9680. I hope you're having a fabulous time! I just wanted to ask whether you have any tips for me before I leave in exactly 2 months. Your blog is great!

hey :) Do you know where in Denmark you are going? I would say pack some longsleeve shirts and long pants, maybe some thermal wear from Katmandu but like only a pair of pants and a shirt from there. Get your winter jacket IN denmark because they are more suited to the weather here. Bring lots of pins because you have your oldies when you get here (who are currently my newbies) and there is quiet a few of them and then there will be your newbies and there will also be a lot of them, the summer team always has a lot of people (you are the winter team). Don’t forget presents for your host families. As they have probably told you, try not to bring to many people to the airport. If your parents come to visit during the year, give them lots of stuff because you will have a lot. Just ask if you have any other questions :)

Update
I haven’t written anything in a long time about what I have been up to so I will give a quick update.
Recently, on the 14th-16th of September, I went to Berlin with my school for our school trip. It was really nice to go and spend time with my class and get to know them a little better. On the Wednesday when we arrived, we went to the hotel and, after eating, we went for a walk around Berlin, a VERY long walk. We went past the Jewish monument and the Brandenburg Gate. We then had the rest of the day off. We all had dinner together, which we made together and then we went to one of the guys rooms, as it was the biggest, and they all had some drinks. We then went out for a bit but I didn’t stay out long and I came back to the hotel. On the Thursday we went to the zoo and then in the afternoon we went canoe and kayaking. It was really fun honestly. That evening we all had dinner together, with the teachers as well and we went to a restaurant. It was the last night for the two teachers and me, but the others were staying until Sunday. On Friday we went to the German Technical Museum in the morning and then, in the afternoon, we went to the Jewish Monument. I then caught the bus to the airport with the teachers and came home again.
The next week Regitze, my host mum, and I went to London on Wednesday the 21st and Thursday the 22nd. Once again, my month mark was spent out of Denmark. We had a VERY busy schedule in London and we saw quite a lot of it, all by walking. On the wednesday when we arrived, we took the train from Gatwick Airport to Victoria Station. We then walked from there to the Wellington Arch in Hyde Park Corner. We then walked around to Buckingham Palace and went inside as well to the Queen’s Mews, the stables and the State Rooms, which are part of the actual Palace. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous but we weren’t allowed to take photos while we were in there, unfortunately. Kate’s wedding dress was in there as well and it was really beautiful. On TV it didn’t look very detailed but, when looking straight at it, you can see the huge amount of detail on it. After Buckingham Palace, we went to a pub to have lunch. Such a small, cute English pub. We then walked from there to Westminster Abbey, where I went inside, and it was absolutely gorgeous but, like in Buckingham Palace, you aren’t allowed to take photos while you are in there. We then went past Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. We then walked up past Downing Street and through Trafalgar Square. We then went to our hotel and dropped our things off. We then walked down Oxford Street and Regent Street until we arrived at Piccadilly Circus. We then took the underground from there to Waterloo station and went to the London Eye as, by then, it was evening so we could see London by night and it was abosolutely beautiful, especially Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament as they were all lit up brightly. We then took the underground again from there and went to King’s Cross Station to see platform 9 ¾. However, it’s no longer between platforms 9 and 10 as too many people were trying to get to the platform just for photos, so now it is outside the station, but it still has the trolley halfway through the wall. We then went to a little Italian restaurant for dinner and then went back to the hotel for the night. That was day one.
On Thursday, once we were ready, we left the hotel and went down through Trafalgar Square and to a hairdresser so I could get my hair cut. We then walked from there down the Strand, past the Royal Courts of Justice, which looked very gothic in style from the outside, and continued on to St. Paul’s Cathedral. I went inside there but, again, I wasn’t able to take photos inside. It was very big and very beautiful. The paintings on the ceiling were stunning and I wish I could have been closer to it. I did go up to the whispering dome though, even though it was a lot of stairs. We then went from St. Paul’s, past the monument and on to the Tower of London. We spent some time in there looking around ourselves and it was very nice. We then walked across the Tower Bridge which had a really bright blue colour on the railings. We then walked past the City Hall and to the Shakespear’s Globe. We then walked across the Millenium Footbridge, which is the bridge at the beginning of the 6th Harry Potter Movie, and we had a nice view down the River Thames of all the other Bridges, all the way back to the Tower Bridge. We then walked to the Temples and took the underground from there to Knightsbridge, where we then went to Harrod’s. It was very full of people though so we didn’t stay too long. We then walked to Hyde Park and stayed there for a while having coffee, until we had to go back to the airport. We then walked to Hyde Park Corner station to take the underground but, as it was peak hour, the trains were very full and you couldn’t actually get on them. We then walked, very quickly, to Victoria Station and took the Gatwick Express back to the Airport. When we arrived, I bought a three books from some of the series I have been reading as they were cheaper than in Denmark and then we went straight to the train and boarded and came home. The three books are now finished in under two weeks.
This past weekend (30th September - 2nd Ocotber) I have been to Legoland and a water park called Lalandia, with my friends from school. On the Friday, we arrived in the afternoon and went to Lalandia straight after dropping our things off at the cabin we were staying in. We spent the rest of the afternoon there and had an awesome time. We then bought food and headed back to the cabin and made dinner. On Saturday, we woke ‘early’ and went to Legoland until about 4 in the afternoon. It was so much fun there and I felt like a giant kid. We went on the water rides, and the kids rides and quite a lot of the rides. It was an awesome day. We then went back to the cabin and then went to Lalandia again until 8pm, where we then came back to the cabin and made dinner. On Sunday, we woke early again and packed everything up. After dropping our things off at Lalandia in the lockers, we went to Legoland for a few hours and went on all the water rides again. We then went and played mini golf, but for only 6 holes out of 12 as, with 6 of us who can’t play golf at all, it took us a long time just to do those holes. We then went to Lalandia and spent the last few hours before we had to catch the bus and train home again.
This coming Friday I have my school gala, which is the dance for the whole school, so it should be rather fun. They are also having an after party so that should be good too. I then visit my host brother’s boarding school on Saturday and then on Sunday I move to my new family, so tomorrow, as I don’t have school, I am spending the day packing, as I haven’t actually started yet and it’s already Wednesday evening. Photos from Legoland should be on soon

Interesting Fact
In Denmark, lots of building and statues are made with copper so that, as they get older, they turn turquoise, giving the whole city of Copenhagen a green look.

Seven months review
It has now been seven months in Denmark and I am having the time of my life. An experience like I am having this year is never an easy one to come by. In the last 7 months I have met so many new people from all over the world. I’ve seen places some people couldn’t even dream about. I’ve experienced things people would pay thousands for. I’ve missed home, yes, but with everything I have been given and done so far this year I haven’t been able to even think that much about home. It is a year that I will NEVER forget, full of people that will never be forgotten. The fact that there are families around the world that help someone they barely know at the start, experience such amazing things and give them the oppourtunity to explore not only the world, but themselves as well is amazing. I will forever be greatful for the experiences and oppourtunity I have been given this. I feel that, just within these last seven months, I have grown greatly as a person. I feel that I have become more mature, more independant and more knowledgeable of the world we live in and the people within in. This year so far, has gone beyond what I could have ever imagined and I am so glad that I took this chance to go into the world alone and explore. Not once have a regretted coming away. I haven’t regretted anything I have done this year as it has all helped me learn and grow. For that I am forever grateful. Images and pictures may tell a thousand words but the power of a memory is indescribable.

Quick update
I haven’t posted for a while but it has been summer holidays and I have been doing quite a lot. I think I will post a long post on here once school is back and tell what I have done during the holidays. Currently though, I am at a 3 week intensive language course with some University students to help me improve my Danish and it is working well. Beforehand I hadn’t learnt much of the grammar but now, as we are having classes just for grammar, I’m understanding it better and I can make my own sentences instead of saying just the ones I had learnt, word for word. I have been talking to some of my friends from school on facebook but only in Danish unless I made a mistake and then we spoke in English to help me fix it. I’ve also been text messaging with my host family updating them on what I have been doing and I have been doing it in Danish, most of the time not needing my dictionary to help me. I’m quite happy with the progress I have made so far in this course and it is only the beginning of the second week. I go home in two Saturdays time and when I arrive home I will be speaking to my host family in Danish and also at school with my friends as they are impressed with the progress I have made and they want to help me continue it. It isn’t always classes here though, we have been doing other activites and tomorrow we go to see west jutland as we are currently in Grenå in east jutland. We will stay there tomorrow night and then come back to the hotel Wednesday evening. It should be fun. But I’m off to bed now, I want to be awake for tomorrow.

Update
Hi everyone, I’m just copying this straight from my rotary report so its rather long.
15th May: Today my host mum and I went to an English Anglican Church in Copenhagen. Afterwards we went to the Museum of Danish Resistance. It was a little museum with some information and objects from the Danish attempt to resist the Germans during World War Two. Apparently the Danish were the only people who, as a country, tried and succeeded in moving many of the Jews to safe, neutral land, which was Sweden at the time. Once we got home, we took the boat out for its first ride in the water for 2011.
16th May: Today was the last day for the seniors at school so, in the morning, school was a little crazy with the seniors running around with water pistols and candy and attacking classes. People also got taken outside to the oval where there was a baby pool full of water, and they got thrown in.
18th May: After school I went to one of the Aussie’s places with some other Aussies and we watched movies, including Tomorrow When The War Began, and had a good Australian time eating a whole pavlova between four of us. We then went to the shops and had ice cream. I then left for Rotary and the meeting was on cell regeneration. It was really interesting even though I couldn’t quite follow it.
19th May: Packed my bag for the Eurotour which starts tomorrow. Excited!
20th May: Eurotour started. A long day it was to start off the tour. At 6:50am I left the house with my host Dad who dropped me off at Høje Taastrup station at 7:20am. Most of the other exchange students who were on bus 3 were there as well except for the few we had to pick up at other spots. At 7:40 we headed off, stopping twice on Sjælland and once on Fyn to pick up more people. Eventually we caught the ferry over to Germany, which took an hour and 45 minutes. At 3pm the ferry arrived in Germany and we continued on our way until we were a little outside Berlin, when we then stopped for lunch. After lunch we continued on driving for 2 hours until we arrived at our youth hostel. After dinner some of the other exchange students and I went for a walk around the area we were in, and we caught the tram for a few stops just so we could say we had been on a German tram.
21st May: Day two of the Eurotour. We went sightseeing in the morning and the first stop was Siegesgötta Viktoria, a tall structure with a golden angel on the top. Next stop was Checkpoint Charlie where we stopped for a bit and took photos. We then continued on our sightseeing tour and went to the Berlin wall, which was really nice to see as there was so much art work along the wall. The remained of the wall had been painted by artists after the wall had fallen, some about the Berlin wall and others weren’t. We then had lunch at the park next across from the Berlin wall and then we got on the bus again and travelled to the Brandenburg Gate where we got dropped off and given free time till 11pm. After seeing the gate and taking photos we walked down the street looking at all the buildings along the way until we arrived at the Berlin Cathedral. It is so big and I was gob-smacked at how gorgeous it looked. We wandered more through Berlin and saw the Neptune fountain. Eventually we caught the train back and walked back to the hostel.
22nd May: Day three and the marker of four months in Denmark, however I wasn’t actually in Denmark. Today we travelled from Berlin to Prague, stopping at the Theresienstadt concentration camp on the way. In all honestly, I didn’t like the place at all but it is easy to understand why. The place had a feeling of death and terror to it. We then walked back to the bus and had lunch and then headed on to Prague. We stayed in a 4 star hotel as it was actually rather cheap. After we had found our room and had dinner we went for a little walk around the area we were in.
23rd May: Today we were in the city and what an absolutely beautiful city it is. Although Berlin was not what I had expected it to be as quite a lot had been destroyed during the war, Prague was more than I had expected and I instantly fell in love. We took the train to the city and then the tram up to Prague Castle. Prague Castle is full of so many other buildings which we saw, including St. Vitus Cathedral which was a wonderful gothic church. We then all made our way back down the hill in our own time and once we had all met up again, we went to the Charles Bridge where we were then let off until curfew. We walked around and saw many little churches and also the black light theatre which is the most famous one in Prague, we didn’t see anything there though. We then headed back to the hotel.
24th May: Day five and we left Prague and headed off to Vienna. After a few hours of driving we arrived in Vienna and at our first sightseeing place, Schönbrunn and Gloriette. I also went to the Labyrinth there as well for a little fun. We then headed back to the bus and to our hotel which was up at the top of a hill about one hour from Vienna main city. Our curfew was later than usual as there wasn’t anywhere for us to go anyway and we all stayed near the hostel.
25th May: Today we did some more sightseeing, some on the bus and some walking. We saw the Spanish riding school during our walking tour and then soon got let off for the rest of the day to do as we wished. During our own free time I saw St. Peter’s Church, which was an amazing church with so many paintings on the walls and also on the ceiling. We also saw Mozart’s house but we didn’t go in as it cost quite a bit, but we went and saw the Statue of Mozart which also had a treble clef made out of flowers in front of it. While we were there we met an old Australian couple who were travelling so we had a bit of a chat with them about what we were doing and what they were up to. I then took the bus back to our hostel for dinner and to give my feet a bit of a break from walking but then we came back in later when the bus left again to take people to the concert in the city. Not everyone went to the concert but we were allowed to just walk around the city. Two oldies, one from USA and one from Canada, and I walked around together and we went on the Wiener Riesenrad, which is the famous ferris wheel in Vienna. We went up at sundown so the view was wonderful and I took many photos from different views of Vienna. We then headed back to the bus and headed back to the hotel where I hung out with some of the other exchange students.
26th May: Today we headed to Italy, Lido de Jesolo to be specific. It was a long drive and by the time we arrived it was almost time for dinner, we had about an hour before hand though so the two previously mentioned oldies and I went for a short walk down one of the street of Jesolo. After dinner we all got ready to go to the Discotek which was just down the road from the hotel, and the leaders let us go till 1am. We all had a fun evening.
27th May: Today was a day of resting and to ourselves, so almost everyone went to the beach as it was just across the road. I slept in a bit and then went to the beach for a few hours, sunbathing and swimming. It wasn’t like an Australian beach at all, not many waves but it was fun to go anyway. I then went for a walk through Jesolo, just looking at everything along the way. I made my way back to the hotel and grabbed a pizza on the way as I hadn’t eaten anything yet. After dinner we hung out at the beach for a bit and then went to the discotek again as we were allowed to again and tonight was free for us.
28th May: Today we went to Venice and, just like with Prague, I fell in love. We took a bus to the harbour and then a boat over to Venice. Once we arrived in Venice we walked to where the gondolas were and we went on a gondola ride around Venice. It was really nice to see Venice from the canals. I then had lunch with two of the oldies and then we went walking through Venice and did some souvenir shopping and I bought a small mask as, being in Venice, I had to. After walking around for a bit longer, we headed back to the boat and we all took the boat back to the harbour and then the bus back to the hotel. Once we got back, quite a lot of us went to the beach again and swam around, the water was a little dirty though and sticky once you got out. Just before dinner started a whole bunch of American cars came past the hotel as apparently they were having a fundraising night right next to the hotel. After dinner, a group of the oldies and I went and got gelato and then walked along the beach. Eventually we came back in time for curfew.
29th May: Today we left Jesolo and headed towards France, but as it is quite a drive, we stayed the night in San Remo. We stopped in Verona on our way to San Remo and we saw Juliet’s balcony. While we were at the balcony, we wrote on the wall that lead into the area as so many people had written on it before and we wanted to leave our mark. We then grabbed lunch and headed back to bus when we then continued onto San Remo. I went for a walk around the area both before dinner and after but there wasn’t much to do.
30th May: Today we headed off to Avignon, stopping at Nice along the way. We were suppose to stop in Monaco but as it was only one day after the grand prix, we were unable to park the bus anywhere so we just kept driving. After Monaco we went to a perfume factory where we were told how they made the perfume and how they came up with the new scents. We were allowed to buy some as well and I did as it was a lot cheaper than buying it normally. After that we continued to Nice, where we then stopped for lunch and were picked up again at 3. I grabbed a gelato while I was in Nice and when they scooped it out, they made it in the shape of a rose. We then continued on and arrived in Avignon and at our B&B’s. We then had dinner in an American 50’s style diner called Tommy’s.
31st May: Today we did sightseeing around Avignon and the surrounding areas. First stop was in the surrounding area in a place called Pont du Gard which is an ancient aquaduck used by the Romans and Greeks to supply their towns with water. We were there for a bit and then we got back on the bus and headed back to Avignon where we then got dropped off and went and saw the Palace of the Popes while they were in France. After the Pope’s Palace, we were allowed free time until the evening, and some of the other exchange students and I wandered around for a bit and then we stopped for lunch at a restaurant as it was one of the girls birthdays. The waiter we had was very nice and funny and he brought out some small cakes for us after we had eaten as a birthday present for the birthday girl and he also let her keep the plate which they were on. We then walked for a bit more and I then made my way back to the bus as I wasn’t feeling well. I slept till about 10pm and then got up and went over to the diner to get some food to eat and I was rather hungry.
01st June: Today I did not feel well at all and I woke up at 3am with a high fever and swollen tonsils but I went back to bed anyway. When I woke up later I still didn’t feel very well but we had to leave for Paris, which was a long drive. I slept almost the whole time on the bus and then when we arrived in Paris, we went for dinner but I couldn’t eat anything. Afterwards one of the leaders then took me to the hospital so that we could find out what was wrong and get me some medication to help. I was in the hospital till 3am the next morning when we then caught a taxi back to the hostel.
02nd and 3rd June: I didn’t do anything these two days as I was still feeling very sick so I just stayed in the hostel room sleeping. Some girls got me some souvenirs while they were out for me though. On the 3rd I was sick again in the evening and a doctor came to the hostel and told me that it was the antibiotics that the hospital had prescribed me that were making me sick so I should stop taking them. Once he left I fell asleep again.
4th June: When I woke up I was feeling better and we headed off to Brussels. I started feeling a little sick on the bus though so I moved to the bottom of the bus where it was a lot cooler and, after a break, I stayed down there and slept for a bit, feeling better when I woke up. We then arrived in Brussels and we went to see the little peeing boy. It really is rather small, it took me a while to realise we had actually arrived at it instead of just stopping. We had a little free time after that and then headed back to the bus and back to our hostel. By now I was feeling a lot better as I had been eating. There was a band playing at the hostel so we stayed there and listened to them, I also played table tennis. We didn’t do much else as everyone was rather tired.
5th June: Today we left Brussels and Belgium and headed to Holland and Amsterdam. When we arrived in Amsterdam, we went on a boat ride through the canals which was really nice, and then we got some time off, but not too long. When we got off the boat, some of the oldies and I had lunch and then one of them and I went next door to the Sex Museum, which was interesting to say the least. We then got souvenirs and walked around for a bit. We never got to the red light district but we were heading in the right direction. Amsterdam is actually a rather wonderful looking place. We then headed back to the bus and headed on to our hotel, which was two hours out of Amsterdam in a town called Arnhem. We were given permission by our leaders to do as we pleased as it was our last night on eurotour, so most of us went into town for the night.
6th June: The last day of Eurotour, which wasn’t very interesting as it was just all spent on the bus heading back to Denmark, with a lot of tears as it was the last time we would be seeing quite a lot of them. So after 18 days, 13 cities, 7 countries, hundreds of photos, a thousand memories and friendships that won’t be forgotten, Eurotour came to an end, but it was the most memorable time I have had so far.
7th and 8th June: Just relaxed, caught up on sleep, unpacked, washed clothes and worked on my blazer. I also went to Rotary on the 8th where there was a presentation on Water and Sanitation.
9th June: This evening I went to Tivoli with one of the exchange students and her friends as it was her birthday celebration. Tivoli is one of the famous amusement parks in Copenhagen. We went on a few rides and then went to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. We then went back to Tivoli again until it closed at 10pm. It was a good evening.
10th June: Went to a dinner with my host family to one of their family friend’s places. It was a good evening
11th June: Today we went to Jylland to a town called Silkeborg to celebrate my host mum grandmother’s 90th birthday. For the celebration we went on the oldest steam paddle boat in Denmark called Hjejlen. We took to boat the highest point in Denmark: Himmelbjerget, which is so high with its highest point at a massive 147m above sea level. There was a tower on top of the hill which I climbed and had a view of the surrounding area. On the way home we stopped at the Jelling Stone which is the ‘birth certificate’ of Denmark, then we continued home.
12th June: Today I went with my host family on their boat and we rode through the harbours of Copenhagen and they took me on a tour of Copenhagen by the water. We went through Christiania, Christiansborg, Christianhavn, and Copenhagen Harbour. I saw the little mermaid, the replica little mermaid, the naval base, some of the forts, Mary’s apartment before she was engaged to Frederick, the royal boat, the original bridge of Chritiansborg as the rest was all burnt down, and many other things. They then dropped me off at the docks near the acting theatre and I headed toward Nørreport to meet one of my friends from school. We then went to the festival that was going on in Copenhagen this weekend. When we arrived though, instead of being Brazilian dancing like there is at night, there was a lot of African dancing and reggae music. Eventually I went home and had dinner and then I went back into town again and hung out with some of the exchange students and it was the last night for some of them. I then stayed the night with one of the exchange student.
13th June: Today I hung out with one of the exchange students as I had stayed at her place the night before. We went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean 4 at the local cinema and then I headed home again.

Been a while
Hey Everyone,I know it’s been a while since I posted anything but I have been on my Rotary Eurotour for 18 days. I won’t post it right now but very soon I will put up a post of the things I did while on the tour. It’s a bit late to do it right now and I haven’t actually typed up my Rotary one yet which is due in a few days.
Just a quick info thing though. We went to Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Lido de Jesolo, Venice, Verona, Monaco, Nice, Avignon, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.
Yeah, I’ll post in a few days a full update of what I have been up to lately.
Been a while
Hey Everyone,I know it’s been a while since I posted anything but I have been on my Rotary Eurotour for 18 days. I won’t post it right now but very soon I will put up a post of the things I did while on the tour. Been a while
Well, it’s been quite a while since I last posted here. The last time I wrote I was in Sweden for my Easter holiday. Since then I have been to Australia and England and Thailand, although the last two were for only just a stop over on the plane. I’m now back in Denmark though and writing in maths class, while the rest of my class works on their maths assignment which is due this afternoon.
As a slight continuation, the rest of my week in Sweden was pretty relaxed, except for the screaming kids that arrived later in the week. The rest of the time it was relaxing and sunny and definately warm.
On Monday the 25th, ANZAC day in Australia, we headed back from Sweden. We left the house at about 11 and arrived back home in Bagsværd at about 1:30, giving me definately enough time to pack my bag for Australia. At 4pm, my host brother Søren drove me to the airport so that I could catch my plane back home. The flights were long but luckily for me, I was able to sleep on the two longest flights which were from London to Bangkok, and then Bangkok to Sydney.
I arrived in Sydney at about 6am and was greated by my Dad at the gates. Mum was waiting at home as she had to go to work and didn’t know if we were going to be at home in time before she had to leave. Anyway, once we arrived home, Mum was still there and she came barrelling out the front door to say hello. It felt nice to be home, but at the same time I didn’t want to be there yet as my exchange wasn’t over, so it felt a little weird being home and I felt rather lost as I had no idea what to do.
Come Saturday and it was time for the big wedding. We were up at 8 in the morning so that we were ready for when my sister came to pick Chiara and I up. We went to the hairdressers first and got our hair done and once we all arrived back home, all the braidsmaids as well, we got make up and nails done. We then all put on our dresses, bride included, although she put hers on first and made my mother cry as well as my grandmother. Once we were all ready, we took photos outside the house and then as we were getting into the cars as well. We had two old cars to drive us to the wedding in style.
The wedding was amazing and I cried more than my mother did, which is really quite a surprise. At the reception afterwards though, mum cried alot. After the wedding we had a small afternoon tea at the church and then the bridal party went and took photos at the Castle Hill Heritage Park. Afterwards, we then made our way to the reception, all of the bridal party squished into two cars. The reception was good and pretty much everything went well. It was a wonderful evening to finish off a glorious day.
On Monday the 2nd, I was to fly back here to Denmark, which I did, but in the morning I got my hair cut into a short pixie style. In the afternoon I got on my plane and started the long journey back home to Denmark. I arrived on the Tuesday at 1pm and made my way home from the airport on the metro, train and bus.
Since arriving back home I have just been at school during the week. My langugage classes have finished, which means I have to start trying to learn on my own now. This past weekend, I had a friend come down to visit from Jutland. On the Saturday morning we went for a walk around the lake near the house and took numerous pictures. In the afternoon my host brother took us to the oldest theme park in Denmark: Bakken. It was quite a fun afternoon going on many, many stomach upsetting rides, and some nice ones too.
This Friday I move house to my next host family who lives in Dragør. In the evening my new host mum, Regitze, and I will be going to the ballet and the Royal Theatre. Last night, which was Tuesday, I made part of the dinner for my host family which was a brussel sprouts dish that my brother-in-law makes. It turned out well and tasted good. Success!
Anyway, this afternoon I am meeting up with some of the Aussie exchange students so that I can give them some Aussie food and then this evening I have Rotary where I am doing my presentation on myself.
In 9 days I go on Eurotour!! :D

Sweden
Currently I am sitting in my host families summer house in Sweden as the sun slowly set over the hills behind the house, watching the cows head home. I’m here all week this week for my Easter school break. We arrived on Saturday and it is now Tuesday and it has been a lovely few days. Ive taken many many photos, which I will post in parts.
On the Saturday, after dinner, we went for a walk around the town we are in called Maglehem. It was a wonderful walk and I took quite a few photos on the way. I also took photos around the backyard before we left.
On Sunday, after dinner again, we went for a walk the other direction through trees and a farm, as the sun was setting and it was just as wonderful. Yesterday, during the day we went out to Farsakarsgården to a waterfall, which although small, was absolutely gorgeous. I could have stayed there all day. The only sounds you could hear were the birds and the rush of the water. Once again I took many, many photos.
Today I just sat in the sun most of the day reading and soaking up the rays. It was a wonderful relaxing day.
I’m here till Monday when we will then head back to Denmark and then I will head home for a week as it will be my sister’s wedding. A very exciting time indeed.
The spring is fastly approaching and I cannot wait for it. In less than a month I will be on my Rotary tour around Europe and it will definately be 18 days to remember forever, no matter the weather or anything.
The one odd thing I saw yesterday was two Emus in someones farm. An odd thing to come across while out in the middle of country area in Sweden.

Awesome weekend
Well, although I haven’t written about the last week, I have just had the awesome-est weekend ever.
Pretty much all of the exchange students in Denmark met this weekend in Odense for a get together. Everyone caught up with who they knew and the oldies and newbies got to know each other. It was a fun weekend.
Friday, I caught the train to Odense, even though I missed my bus to the station and then the train, I took the next one instead. When we arrived, we got told where we were sleeping, which was just the floor of a classroom with other people, except I didn’t sleep in the classroom at all on the weekend, I just slept on the floor in the hallway. After dinner on Friday, we all went to the hall where there was some people doing Hans Christen Anderson things and then, after that, we played games in the hall, just having fun. I removed the skin off my knees playing the games since we had to crawl under everyones legs in a race against the other teams. That night, although we were told we had to be in bed at 1am, no one really was and it wasn’t checked on or anything, some people didn’t sleep at all. I slept for 2 hours that night but I was fine for all of Saturday.
Saturday we had breakfast and then we had to get ready to go to the gym in town. At the gym in town I did a spinning class (which is cycling) and then a yoga class but the spinning class tired me out and with only 2 hours sleep the night before, I pretty much fell asleep in yoga. When we got back, we were free until 7p when we had to be ready for dinner and the party. The party was pretty alright, there wasn’t anything to drink at all, unless you wanted to pay for it. The music was good and we all ahd fun. The oldies got a little sad halfway through because it was the last time most of them would be seeing eachother but they all got happy again. That night I went to bed at about 3am and woke up at 8am.
Sunday, we didn’t have much time left together. We had breakfast, then packed our bags and got ready to leave as well as exchanged pins and cards. I now have a few more pins on my blazer as well as some more bracelets around my wrists. I then caught the train home and nodded off for a bit while on the way, since I was still really tired.
All in all, it was an awesome, fun-packed weekend, meeting new people and rekindling the friendships with the ones I already knew.

The update as promised
Well as it has been a while, this one is going to be long.
Last time I wrote it was a Tuesday and in the week of AT classes. Well the rest of that week was just the same. A bludge mainly.
On the Friday, I had a party for my friend Olivia, as it was her 18th. It was a really good party and all of the people from my class at school were there which was good.
Saturday: My host brother, Søren, and I went and saw True Grit, a western movie, since we had nothing to do in the evening. It was a pretty good movie.
Sunday: I had a Rotex dinner with all the other exchange students in the Copenhagen area. It was alright, we all had to bring food from our country and one of the American’s was a smart ass and brought McDonalds.
Monday: School. Language class. Hanging out in town. The normal Monday for me
Tuesday: BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!!!! Tonight I saw My Chemical Romance at the KB Hallen, and it was AWESOME!!!! The line to get in was long, and the wait was cold but it was definately worth it. Every minute. I bought four shirts while I was there, which is quite alot I know but 2 of them were really cheap ones like $20, and $10. The other two were $40 each, but they are all awesome shirts :D
Friday: I had another school party which was so much fun and techno/fluro/rave themed. We had a pre-pre-party at one of the boys houses where we all got ready and then we went to the pre-party at one of the others guys houses in my class. While we were there, we painted fluro things on eachothers faces and started getting pumped up for the party. Eventually we left for the school and we walked the whole way there and had a lot of fun on the way being rather silly. It was a rather good night.
Saturday: I woke up early and went to Sweden with my host parents as we were going to a birthday dinner for my host dad’s mother. It was an okay day, I didn’t really speak to many people though as I didn’t know anyone at all.
Tuesday: 2 Months! Already! I can’t believe how fast this is all going. It feels like I haven’t been doing much even though I know I have. I am going to be having the best year of my life this year as I can tell already.
Today: I finished school at 11:35 and then Nanna and I went to her place first and had lunch and then we went to the gym and worked out for a while. I am planning on getting fit again and back into shape
Tomorrow: In the evening, Ellen (one of the other exchange students from Australia) and I are going into town.

Sorry
Hey all people who follow my blog
Sorry I haven’t updated for a while BUT I will do so tomorrow as I finish school early. Right now though I am going to continue the drawing I started two weeks ago and had to finish because a piece of A5 paper isn’t big enough to draw a Gryphon.
Catch you tomorrow

It been a while
Well, it’s been over a week now since I last posted and a lot has happened since then.
On the day I last wrote, I said I was going into the city to help Rotary with their End Polio Now! awareness. We arrived there at about 1:45 and we were there until 4pm. It wasn’t too bad, although I do feel weird asking people for money, even though that is what we were there for: asking for donations. After standing on the cold concrete for just over 2 hours and standing in the wind, my feet and hands were very cold despite wearing thick socks and gloves. After that, in the evening, I had a house warming party to go to with Søren. It was fun and I met more of his friends, and caught up with the ones I already knew. Ellen, one of the other Australian exchange students who actually goes to their school, was there as well so it was a very good evening.
Sunday, I did nothing really. I just slept in and caught up on all the sleep I hadn’t had.
Monday: On Monday, I started my language classes in the afternoon, starting at 2pm. I went to school before hand and it wasn’t too bad. I had history where the teacher asked if I could do a presentation later in the month on the Australian Independence, which I said I would. The class doesn’t know much about it and neither does the teacher so I should be confident enough in talking to them about it…I hope. That is one of the reasons I am on exchange this year: to improve my confidence. I left school at 1:15pm to head off to language classes. I arrived pretty okay but I did get lost once, there was however, a very nice man working in the 7eleven who showed me where to go. In class we mainly just went over the things we did while on Intro camp so it was a pretty easy lesson.
Tuesday the 1st: A new month. The third month of the year, but only about a month and a half into my exchange. I just had a normal day at school again so not that interesting.
Wednesday: I had another language lesson in the afternoon after my day of school, which was a pretty boring day. In language class, we learnt how to ask and reply to How are you? (Hvordan går det?). I then had Rotary afterwards which was a little boring but not too bad.
Thursday: Our class went to the Pharmacutical part of the University of Copenhagen. I thought it was going to be a boring day, but it actually turned out to be a really good one which was good. We got to make medical things. I got to make anti-inflamatatory creme. Afterwards, I went to the post office to pick up the package that I got from H&M with clothes in it, and it all fit :D
Friday: I didn’t have to go to school today as my class had an english test, which I didn’t have to do. Instead, I made pavlova bases as, in the evening when we had guests over, I was making pavlova for dessert. Jennifer also arrived in the evening for the weekend. We didn’t do much that evening just stayed at home sitting on our laptops
Saturday the 5th: On Saturday, Jennifer and I did alot of shopping in town and at the outlet store. I bought quiet a few things but they were all cheap in price so all in all it was good :) I got two pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of jeans, a pair of other pants, two t-shirts, two pairs of socks, a belt, some souvenirs and some jewellery making things. In the evening when we got back, Chirstian and Carina, my host brother and his girlfriend, came over for dinner. After dinner Christian, Carina, Kirsten and Arne all went out to the tango restaurant and Jenny and I stayed at home upstairs, on our laptops…again.
Sunday: I met my next host family, who are really, really nice, and we also saw the Festelavn in Dragør, which is where my next host family is. After meeting my host family and everything, Jenny went back home to Kolding and I went and met Søren to go have dinner at his dad’s place. It was a good dinner.
Monday: I had language classes again after school, and school was a pretty bludgy day. All week this week we have A.T. classes, where they mash up two classes and we have to do a project during the week. So we watched a movie in the first two lessons called East is East and then we had lunch, then we got into groups and made a plan on the what we would be doing our ‘project’ on, which will be the cultural clash of Aboriginals and white man in Australia. I then left for language class after that and I arrived on time which was good. In class this time we learnt the past and future terms such as yesterday and tomorrow and so forth. After that, Luana, Gustavo, Ellen and I went into Nørreport and hung around there for a while mainly eating lots and lots of food. It was a really good evening.
Today: We didn’t do much in class at all, just worked a little on the project and then bludged the day haha
Tomorrow I have language class and rotary but now I should finish off my homework for language class
Bye

Tomorrow I have language class and rotary but now I should finish off my homework for language class

My week
Well this week was an interesting week. I went to school on Monday and Tuesday and just had a normal day at school, although on Monday we had a 3 hour lecture on I have no idea what, I think it was religion though. On Tuesday afternoon, it started snowing, which was kinda fun standing in the snow. On Wednesday it was still snowing and had been snowing all night which meant that the trains weren’t going to be working properly, plus someone had tried to steal the cables for the train tracks during the night. So I caught the bus to the station but, once at the station, everything was a major disaster, so I just went home again as I was only going to be having a half day anyway.
On Wednesday afternoon, I baked some more ANZAC cookies for my host family, but mainly for myself as I keep eating them all. I then had my Rotary meeting. On Thursday I stayed at home from school as I didn’t have to go because my year was doing a paper on Thursday and Friday which is due on Monday, so I didn’t go to school on Friday either. Both Thursday and Friday were relaxing days where I didn’t do much, except for Friday night (last night).
Last night the school had its Fastelavnfest party. Everyone from all three years was invitied. It was a dress up party, and it was held in the school hall. I went as an Australian Superhero. I wore jeans, flanno shirt, boots, my hat and my flag as a cape. It was a really good party. Before that party though, we had a ‘warm up’ party at one of my school friends places, where all my friends from school were. All in all, last night was an awesome night and I had so much fun.
Today, Søren and I are going into town to help Rotary with something about End Polio Now. After that we are going to a house warming party for one of Søren’s friends. Tomorrow I will probably just sleep in and do some washing.

The rest of my winter break
Last time I wrote was Tuesday, it’s now Sunday and I have done alot since then.
On Wednesday, I skyped with my host sister Chiara and we talked about everything, she is my sister and I guess I could say, one of my best friends. It was good to talk to her about what has been happening here and what’s been happening at home. It felt the same as if we were together, even though I’m a thousand miles away. After we skyped, I went for a run around Bagsværd lake for about 30mins. I didn’t get too cold while I was running but my hands did as I forgot to wear gloves of any sort. The rest of me was alright though. I then had a Rotary meeting again that night. The person who spoke that night was a lady who went on exchange a few years ago and she went to Australia, so I spoke with her for a bit afterwards.
On Thursday, my host mum Kirsten and I went to an art gallery up in Humlebæk. It was a really good day and they had a Picasso Exhibition and an exhibition of Walton Ford, who does prints of animals because we use animals in term to relate to the behaviour of humans such as ‘As wise as an old owl’, 'As sly as a fox’. I bought two post cards as we left, one of Picasso’s work and one of Walton Ford’s.
On Friday, I skyped home and talked to Mum and Dad, as well as Glyn and Swa. It was the first time I skyped home, after almost a month of being here. It was good to talk about what I had been up to and find out what was happening at home. I told them about all the shopping I had gotten up to as well. Afterwards, I got dressed and I went into Copenhagen by myself to see if I could remember where things were. Turns out I can remember which station to get off at to go shopping. I bought a nice pair of shoes…again. These are basically a pair of combat boots on heels. Pretty cool actually.
On Saturday, I went up to Helsingør to see Mackenzie and we did some shopping…again. But this time it was in a second hand store. In this second hand store, I bought a leather jacket, and I also got a pair of white and red extra hightop converse shoes for only 75kr!! That’s only $13.50 Australian Dollars. For a pair of Extra Hightop Converse!!! OMG! We then went over to Sweden for two hours to have lunch. It only cost 50kr for a round trip each, which is pretty good.
Today, being Sunday, I’ve stayed in my pajamas all day and cleaned my room and the bathroom and worked on some rotary things. A rather lazy day today, needed after a long, busy, and fun week.
Tomorrow I’m off to school again for another week.
Till next time.

the Lyck's
Well for the last two days I have been staying at one of the houses of a member from the Rotary club that is hosting me and they have a daughter the same age as me. We had a fun two days doing some shopping and watching movies. I did a bit of shopping but I’m hoping I didn’t spend too much but I have no idea how much I actually spent. Maybe I should check it.
Well I did just check it and I won’t be shopping anytime soon except on Friday when I go op shop shopping so that’s okay.
Anyway, I’ve had a good two days and tomorrow I am skyping with my host sister from back home, Chiara.

SWEDEN!
Well, I’m in Sweden now :D
Yesterday, after school, my host Mum, Dad and I came to Sweden to their summer/holidays house. It snowed on the way over so, this morning, with the sun shining bright, everything looked absolutely stunning. Today we went for a walk up a ‘mountain’ and saw across the water and across the bay near where I am at the moment. We also went along the water and, due to the high wind storm the other night, the trees and branches had a coating of ice on them, which you will be able to see in the photos posted.
I’m now on winter holidays for a week, so tomorrow we will head back to Bagsværd and then, on Monday and Tuesday, I am hanging out with one of the daughters of one of the members of the Rotary club. Not sure what we will be doing yet but I think there will be some shopping involved. Wednesday will be a day at home and then on Thursday, when my host Mum has the day off work, we will do some sight seeing. On Friday I will be going to Helsingør with Mackenzie to an op shop up there. Not quite sure what I will be doing on the weekend though. I guess I will wait and find out.
I’ll post some photos now :)

2nd and 3rd day of school
I know I said I would post yesterday but I forgot to so now I will post today but longer.
Yesterday I woke up at 6:30 then fell asleep for another 15mins before I got up and got ready fro school. I had to leave the house at 7:20 to make sure I caught the bus in the morning. Once I was on the bus, I got off at Lyngby and caught the train to Hellerup, and then I walked to school. The same thing happened this morning when I got up for school.
Yesterday, I had religion first then English, French, and Danish. For every class except English I sat with a girl named Nanna, and I also sat with her and her friends at lunch. All of her friends are in my class as well and their names are Mathias, Benjamin, Sebastian, Gustav, Henning, Signe, Olivia and Thorbjørn. They are a very nice bunch of people and they are all very, very smart.
Today, I had Danish, Maths and then Chemistry. For all the classes I just sat on facebook and spoke to people back home, as well as some of the people in my class when we were in Chemistry as we have a group on facebook so we can all talk together. I taught them a few Aussie slang words today as well which was rather fun.
This evening I went to another Rotary meeting but I didn’t have to speak this week. Sad to say but I almost fell asleep during the meeting because I couldn’t understand what was being said and I was a little tired at the time.
Tomorrow I am making dinner for my host family as well as making some Anzac cookies, even though it isn’t Anzac day or even close to it. For dinner I am making Honey Chicken Drumsticks which will taste AWESOME!! I have to convert the measurements though so that I have them right as in Denmark they don’t have cups and such.
Anyway I’m off to do something to my hair and to convert the measurements :)

First day of School
Well today I had my first day of school, which was rather boring actually. I got picked up at 9:30 to go to school, so I missed the first lesson. When I arrived in class, it was physics and they were doing a test so I sat in a different room with another girl who is on exchange with AFS, I think, and she is from Costarica, but then she had to leave for language school at 11 so then I went back into the classroom and sat there for the rest of the lesson while they did their test. After that I came home as my 3rd period class had been cancelled and I didn’t have a 4th period class. I got home at about 1pm.
When I got home, I watched the rest of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus, and then I tried reading but I ended up falling asleep for a few hours. When I woke up, I went downstairs and helped my host mum, Kirsten, make dinner. My host mum then went to the gym and when my host brother, Søren, got home we had dinner then, even though I had eaten with Kirsten as well.
Tonight, I have been on facebook talking to a few people back home but also to some of the other exchange students. I have also started making more Australian things but I don’t know how they are going to turn out, I just hope they look alright.
Well I will post again tomorrow as it would have been another full day of school with a rather different experience so until then.

Been a few days
Well it’s been a few days since I last posted and it has definately been an interesting experience in those days. On Thursday I was rather homesick so, as a way to distract myself from my homesickness I went for a walk down to Bagsværd Lake, which is completely frozen over, and then I walked into Bagsværd and then back to my hosue again, grabbing a chocolate croissant on the way back. After that though I started feeling a little sick so I stayed in bed for a bit and, when I later went downstairs, I was actually sick, so I went back up to bed for the rest of the evening.
The next day, when I woke up, I felt pretty okay but then by 10 o'clock I didn’t feel so good, so much so that I couldn’t actually get out of bed. Eventually I ended up going to hospital as my back and stomach pains were extreme and I couldn’t do anything. So I experienced the Danish health care system which wasn’t too bad and they have no bills so that was good. So all in all, Friday was a rather…not boring but still boring day.
Saturday:
My Host Mum and I went shopping at an outlet in Copenhagen called Tomato. An odd name for a place but oh well. I managed to buy quite a lot of things though for less than $100 Australian Dollars. I got two pairs of spat style shoes for, together, 100DKK which is about $20. I got some other things too and I spent 535DKK.
That evening I went to an 18th birthday party with my host brother. It was rather boring until they all started getting drunk but that was when I had to leave as today I had to be up at 8 to go to my Intro Camp.
Intro Camp today was good. Getting to the camp we had to change train because the one we were on was cancelled because it was running so late. But we had a lovely lady in a purple jacket take us to the next train. She was on the first train with us and had to go to the second train anyway but she made sure we were all following and got there.
Today at the Camp we have had one class but we didn’t learn much, if any Danish in it because it was just an intro class. At the moment there is a WHOLE bunch of people in my room hanging out and chatting.
Till the next time I post
Rock on haha

It Snowed!!
Hallelujah! It snowed today! I woke up this morning and opened my curtains and all I saw was white! Everything was covered with a light film of snow and it was still snowing. I was very happy this morning because of it. I went into Copenhagen again today with my Club Counsellor and two of his grandkids and his daughter. We went up some church, I don’t know what it’s called, but we went all the way up to the top, which was rather hard as the steps were really small and steep, but I managed, and when we got to the top the roof was slanted and was covered in ice so it was very slippery and, since I’m scared of heights, it was rather scary to start sliding towards the edge where the only thing holding you up was a railing, a little scary. Despite the slipperiness, it was very good up the top because it had a wonderful view of the whole city and everything was still covered in snow and it looked absolutely gorgeous.
It was very cold up there though, even worse than down on the ground, so my feet were frozen and were for a number of hours until we went back to my club counsellors place before we had to go to my first Rotary meeting. When we were at his place my feet managed to thaw themselves out eventually. It did take a while though. I then had my first Rotary meeting which was very confusing as everything was said in Danish and I understood none of it, or very little anyway. I understood when my name got said, so I got up to say a few words such as where I was from, what the weather was like back home and how it was very cold for me when I got here. I then presented them with a flag from my sponser club back home. The Rotary club of Hellerup was very different to the West Pennant Hills/Cherrybrook one back home. The Hellerup club was mainly rich people and was in a rather posh place. They ate dinner first downstairs, then grabbed dessert and made their was up stairs to have tea and coffee and dessert and to make presentations and everything. I was rather confused with all their presentations. Most of them spoke English though so when I was talking to them, they would speak English to me so I could understand. But as I said to them, hopefully once I get back from my intro camp next week, I will be able to speak Danish better and understand more of it as we are being taught Danish morning and afternoon on everyday while we are there.
Tomorrow I don’t have anything planned yet, but maybe I will go for a wander around and see if I can remember where things are. On Friday I am going to Helsingør with some of the other exchange students to do some shopping, although I had thought we were doing it tomorrow but the plans had changed. Maybe I could do some cookig tomorrow for my host family and cook them some Anzac cookies.
Well, I shall post some pictures now, that I took today.

Bikes in Denmark
My god there are a lot of bikes in Denmark. They even have their own lanes and traffic lights! THEIR OWN TRAFFIC LIGHTS!!! Everywhere you go there are people riding bikes, even now when the weather is like 3degrees c. They are EVERYWHERE!! You go to the station and there are hundreds of bikes just sitting there, waiting for the owner to come back to ride home, or where ever the next place is. Then again there are very little hills in Denmark so it is easy to get around on a bike. It does get kind of cold though if you don’t have enough layers on. Found that out the hard way.
Anyway, everything is great here. Missing home a little but that’s normal I guess. Went to the Museum of Modern Art outside Copenhagen today. It was pretty cool. They had an exhibit which was full of smoke so you couldn’t see anything at all so I ran into the walls a couple of times. I think that was the point though so yeah. Tomorrow I have my first Rotary Meeting in the evening and tomorrow is also Australia Day. I hug my flag alot tomorrow.
I bought a leather bound drawing book today while I was at the Museum :D
Anyway, I’ll post again tomorrow
Bikes in Denmark
My god there are a lot of bikes in Denmark. They even have their own lanes and traffic lights! THEIR OWN TRAFFIC LIGHTS!!! Denmark and the coooold
Today I went into Copenhagen again and went up the Round Tower. It was VERY cold up the top but very pretty as it gave me a FULL view of Copenhagen.
My host brother got me invited to one of his friends’ parties on Saturday so that’s awesome! :D He is very funny. His name is Søren and he went on exchange a few years ago to Mexico, so he walks around the house saying things in Spanish sometimes, as well as breaking out into song while cleaning the dishes. He’s 18 now but it’s still funny. He is a very good host brother. We get along well which is good and I’m glad of that.
Anyway, I’ll post up some pictures soon of the last few days that I have had in Denmark, I just have to put one of the photos together.

City
I’m off to go into the city tomorrow with my host sister Chiara
We are going to Paddy’s Markets to get some Aussie pins for my blazer and to get just some Australiana things for her blazer and for my host families when I am in Denmark next year
Maybe we will hit up some second-hand clothing stores too
She has to go to school in the morning but she only has to be there till 10:30, lucky. In the mean time I will sleep and read
I’m currently reading ‘The Invisible Man’ by H.G. Wells. It’s about a guy who makes this formula to make him invisible but then he doesn’t have an anecdote so he’s trying to find one but kinda going crazy at the same time and having violent out bursts. It’s only a small book but it’s one of the classics so I don’t mind. I should finish it before I have to go to schoolies on Saturday up to Hawkes Nest. Can’t wait.
Anyway, I’m off to bed as it’s 12:11am :)

Been a while
Hey guys,
its been a while since i last posted and the reason is, I’ve been busy haha
I went on a camp on the weekend for all the inbound and outbound exchange students from Rotary and OMG it was an awesome weekend. I had so much fun. I met all these people from different countries including Brazil, Mexico, Chilie, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, France, Canada, Italy, Finland, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and Taiwan. They are all such bright, amazing people and it was such a wonderful weekend. One I will definately remember.
Yesterday, when I finally woke up, my Ma and I went shopping and I got some awesome grunge boots for $22 from Target.
Today, okay I could have posted but I was a little lazy. I had to walk the dogs and do the washing, which I managed to turn pink…again…sorry Dad, you now have to wear a blue and pink striped shirt to work…
I also watched a movie when my host sister got home. Her name is Chiara and she is from Italy. She’s such a bright person. Always happy. So we watched She’s the Man while I did some cross stitch, I did two today actually. Then when it came time for dinner we both helped make the dinner and she also fed the animals as I was finishing up my cross-stitch. So I had a bonding afternoon with my host sister. We are going to the markets of Thursday as she finishes at 10:30 from school, so we are going to go get pins and things for her blazer and so I can trade things when I am in Denmark next year.
Anyway, I think that can make up for not posting anything for a few days, so yeah…

First Blog
Well this is my first blog ever. I've never done this before but I thought I might give it a try. This will be my spot in which I will post my thoughts about things that I feel I can express to everyone instead of just keeping it in my diary. That's right I have a diary.
Anyway, I live in Australia and next year I am going on exchange to Denmark so it will be a new experience for me. I'll learn to cope with the cold as I don't cope with it very well. I'll learn how to speak Dannish. As I don't know any Dannish at the moment if you know where I can learn it before I go over there please let me know. I do go into a 3 week language program when I get there but I'd still like to know some before I go.
On Saturday last weekend I learnt how much paintball hurts and also how much fun it is. I do have a few bruises but not as many as I was hoping to have. I have one currently that is all down my arm, well the top half anyway. I also have one on my thigh as well as one on my calf on the other leg.
Well I'll stop there even though this was really short but I will post more in the not too distant future, when I actually have something to write about...maybe some books as I read lots of books. I am currently reading 'Lord of the Wild' by Susan Krinard. It's a rather interesting book. The main character, Donal, can talk to animals and read their minds too as he is a half-Fane. (meaning a half-faerie, but not the pretty pretty girly girly fairies)
I'll post again soon
