Night Report
MC Past President Barry Freeman called to order and introduced President Janelle who welcome all present especially Hon Phillip Ruddock Mayor of Hornsby and special guest Cr Sallianne McClelland.
Anne Sharpe gave the Acknowledgement of Country and PP Colin McGowan gave Toast to Rotary International. District Governor Mina Howard replied to the Toast.
PP Brian Furrer gave Toast to the Partners with a reply from Julianne Stanton.
President Janelle gave her annual report where she highlighted the achievements of the club during the year and thanked her Board and members for the support given to her.
District Governor Mina Howard spoke about the work of Rotary, in district, Australia and International. She spoke about the recent International Convention held in Melbourne. She also congratulated the club for the achievements both within the club and on district level.
President Janelle presented the presidential Awards:
Allyn Day Award presented to Susan Moore.
Trevor Turner Award jointly presented to Andrew Little and Peter Stanton
Jill and David Turnbull presented the Olive Turnbull Award to Alison Chuah.
Cr Sallianne McClelland was the Keynote speaker. She spoke about the Women Shelter and the Hills Womens Shed.
Sallianne gave some horror statistics: -
President Janelle presented club Paul Harris Awards to Adrian Sonego, Carol Russell and Neville Hansen. She also awarded a Paul Harris Fellow to Mavis Todd member of the Uniting Church community and the Rotary club of Castle Hill. She then inducted Neville Hansen as the club President for 2023-2024.
President Neville spoke about his aims and hopes for the year including focus on ‘People’, ‘Better together’ ‘Vulnerability’ and ‘Process and Technology’ being part of this year theme ‘Create Hope In The World’ as outlined by Rotary international President 2023-2024 Gordon R McInally.
President Neville introduced his new board.
The evening closed with some music and dancing.

Sallianne gave some horror statistics: -
- there are over fifty-six thousand homeless women every night in Australia,
- Seventy five percent of these are due to domestic violence,
- One in every two women (and Children) who seek shelter are turned away due to the shortage of available beds.
- Most women and children are given up to three months of support whilst resettling.
- The over 55 is now the fastest growing group of homeless women.
