Zone 8 Regionalisation October Update

17 October 2023

October 2023 Update
Your opinions and votes matter!
In this update:
  • Make sure your club votes in the Regional Council election by 31 October
  • Make sure your club fills in the Rotary Community Groups club preferences form by 29 October
  • Like our new Facebook page
Dear Rotary and Rotaract members,
It was great to see so many of you at our Pilot update webinars last month. A recorded session and the accompanying slide deck can be found here.
Have your say in the Regional Council election
Today, Club Presidents received their unique link to vote on behalf of their club in our inaugural Regional Council election. They can now cast one preferential vote for each of the Regional Council positions they are eligible to vote for.

The Regional Council will represent and support clubs at a regional level, so it is important that clubs consider which candidate will be best for each role.

Voting opens on Tuesday 17 October 2023 and closes on Tuesday 31 October 2023 Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), with votes to be submitted by Club Presidents.

Currently clubs, through their President, are being asked to complete a club preferences form by the end of October to help them be placed into a RCG. More information on RCGs can be found here.
We encourage all members to consider what opportunities your club might be able to take advantage of as part of Regionalisation.
You can watch a video explaining what Rotary Community Groups are and how they will be formed.

What it takes to be a Rotarian

There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club.  From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure.  The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.

Don't need:
  • to be invited
  • to be of a certain age
  • to be male
  • to be a business person
  • to be retired
  • to attend meetings every week
  • to be available on weekends.

Must have:
  • a sense of humour
  • a willingness to give back to your community
  • a willingness to pitch in when required
  • some time available to help out on the occasional weekend event
  • an interest in the life of the West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook communities
  • a desire to contribute in some way to the running of the Club.

If you would like to come along as a guest to see what it is all about just call either: -
Carol Russell (0418 431 157) or President Neville (0412 064 336)
