Leadership Change at Rotary Foundation Australia
Rotary Foundation Australia will have a new chair from July 1, 2024. Past Rotary International Director Jessie Harman will step into the role, taking over from Maurie Stack, who has held the position since July 2020.
Jessie says she is honoured to be elected as chair. “I have seen first-hand the life-changing impact of projects made possible by the generosity of Australian Rotarians and their connections. Rotary Foundation Australia represents the confidence and trust we can all have, knowing that our donations and |
the humanitarian projects thy underpin are stewarded with accountability and care.”
Jessie brings a wealth of experience to the role of chair. She has served as a director of Rotary Foundation Australia since 2020. She is currently co-chair of the Rotary International Communications Committee and was previously a director of Rotary International. Outside of Rotary, Jessie is a professional non-executive director, serving on the boards of organisations in both the non-profit and for-profit arena. |
She holds an MBA and PhD in business and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In taking on the role, Jessie was keen to recognise the contribution of outgoing chair, Maurie Stack. “Maurie has led Foundation Australia through a period of significant development. Consequently, we can now unlock donations from a broader base of Australian donors and facilitate grants within Australia as well as overseas,” Jessie said. “I thank Maurie for his leadership and am delighted he will continue on the board as a director.” RDU |

Thank You for your generous donation
Dear Neville and all at the Rotary Club,
We would like to send a big thank you for your generous donation to the Biggest Morning Tea. Our team is truly grateful for your support in helping us get closer to our fundraising target and, most importantly, bringing hope to people affected by cancer.
The event was wonderful as we witnessed the local community come together with the shared purpose of helping those in need. The weather was kind to us, with no rain until the evening.
Thank you again for the generous donation that will truly make a huge difference for people impacted by cancer.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and we would love to continue supporting the Rotary Club.
Many thanks,
Susan and Yvonne

Rotary District 9685 International Service Award 2023/24
Hi Guys,
Congratulations, at the District Presidents Lunch today our Club has won the District International Service Award for 2023-2024. (Photo attached.). This is a fantastic effort. This is an accumulation of many years of hard work and I would like to congratulate all of you. Well done. I know it has been a hard road, but I hope this award gives you inspiration to keep going as these Indonesian people deserve it. Neville |
Background
Following ongoing club support and two district Grants in Flores, we desired to make a continuing impact in one village- Ian Tenna, in Flores. This resulted in a Global Grant submission, subsequent technical review, and approval. Overall, this was a lengthy process.

Our target is 70 Water Storage Tanks, 70 Wash Toilets and Hygiene Training. Funding is via USD 50,000 (AUD 76,000). Rotary funds 50% of the cost, the balance is met by individual families and the village.

What it takes to be a Rotarian
There are members of the community who may have some misunderstandings about what it takes to be a Rotarian.
We are always looking for new members and, in fact, it is new people joining that keeps us alive as a Service club. From time to time I hear people say things that make me think they don't consider joining or even visiting Rotary for all the wrong reasons.
This article is about the things you don't need to join Rotary, and the things you do, just in case you are not sure. The other thing you should know is that we are a very friendly bunch of men and women and we have a lot of fun, as well as achieving some pretty good things in the community.
