President’s update:
- Welcome members, and partners.
- The Satisfaction Survey results are up for discussion tonight.
- Thank you to the mowing gang (Anne. Gino, David, George) who turned up at 8.30 am on Thursday to mow lawns.
- Thank you to all who helped set up the Christmas Market on Saturday and run the market on Sunday. Also, those who stayed to clean up. The money raised was a good result. I will let Bob tell you how much. The Board agreed that the majority will be allocated to Helping Hearts Survive. A presentation will be made to HHS before Christmas.
- The Rotary Clubs of Sydney Northwest met on Saturday. The Club agreed to participate in a membership growth committee focused on “Partnering with Primary and High Schools Parents; Past NYSF, RYPEN, RYLA/Youth Exchange Candidates and their Parents”. Cawas has kindly volunteered to represent the club on this committee. Thank you Cawas. There will also be engagement with the whole club.
Looking forward:
- Tree of Joy. Project running smoothly. Anne will speak about this later.
- C3 church. Dec 8 3-6 pm we only have to cook up to 100 sausages so looking for 2 volunteers.

- Don’t forget you can see the Club Directory, “What’s On” and “Calendar” on your phone. If it is not working for you, let me know and it will be fixed for you.
- Don’t forget to let Sandra know if you are travelling or are not attending meetings so you do not get rostered on for meeting duties. All members are eligible for the duty roster and are assigned a role by Sandra. If you have a problem doing any of the duty roles let Sandra know as she is the only person who has control of duties. Your role is posted in the Bulletin and the Bulletin email 6 weeks in advance.
- Next week we are unable to meet at the Vicar so Sandra has arranged a social night at Hotel Pennant Hills. December 16 we are back at the Vicar for our Kris Kringle. We will follow last year’s model and collect non-perishable food for Hands and Feet being run by Cherrybrook Uniting Church. You will get a list of suggested food soon.
So, Let’s stay safe look after each other and create some magic.
A break from Australian Built cars before 1920. Instead a 1890’s recipe for Christmas dinner will appear in my night report.
A 1890’s Christmas Dinner delicacy
Baked Calf’s Head
Clean the head very carefully, and put it into a baking disk on a rest in the centre. Grate some nutmeg over it with some sweet herbs chopped; pepper and salt. Crumbs of bread and a little lemon peel; dredge a little flour over, and put some pieces of butter here and there, and then put into oven. Put into the dish a bunch of sweet herbs, an onion, some peppercorns, and a pint of water, Bake according to size, about ten minutes for each pound. Sauce for the above is thus made; - when the head is done take it out and strain the gravy from the dish into a saucepan. Have the brains boiled previously with a sprig of sage in the water. Add them chopped fine to the gravy; teaspoon full of butter rolled in flour; two spoonful of port wine, boil for a few minutes, and when the head is on the dish pour over it. Serve hot.
Note: the grammar and punctuation is as used in the book this came from.
So, Let’s stay safe look after each other and create magic.

Membership:
Tonight, we reviewed the findings of the Club Survey conducted recently. This meeting was to give members the opportunity to voice their feelings about all areas of Meetings and Communication.
Several members voiced dissatisfaction at the way they felt they were interacted with and the meetings in general. The majority of members are however happy with the Club and the way processes and communications are dealt with. Various issues were discussed openly, and it is noted that the majority of the club members i.e. some 38 people are happy and had no major issues with any aspect of the meetings or in communications.
The Steering committee to interact with small groups, to further investigate the matters raised.
Carol and President Colin reminded members who were voicing concerns, that there was an opportunity to join one of the two committees, to consider member concerns about meetings and communication/member engagement. However, there were no takers to join the committees last night. Rosemary had previously agreed to join the communication/member engagement one.

Humour
Spill the beans ... contributed by Cawas
The Receptionist ... contributed by Neville
Yesterday I had an appointment to see the urologist for a prostate exam.
Of course I was a bit on edge because all my friends have either 'gone under the knife' or had those pellets implanted.
The waiting room was filled with patients.
As I approached the receptionist's desk, I noticed that she was a large, unfriendly woman who looked like a Sumo wrestler.
I gave her my name, and in a very loud voice, she said,
"YES, I HAVE YOUR NAME HERE. YOU WANT TO SEE THE DOCTOR ABOUT IMPOTENCE, RIGHT?
All the patients in the waiting room snapped their heads around to look at me, a now very embarrassed man. But I recovered quickly, and in an equally loud voice replied,
"NO, I'VE COME TO INQUIRE ABOUT A SEX CHANGE OPERATION, BUT I DON'T WANT THE SAME DOCTOR THAT DID YOURS."
The room erupted in applause!
