Funds are to be raised by donating the proceeds from Bunnings barbeques to be held on 10-11 August 2024. We have locked in Sat 10 Aug at Castle Hill Bunnings. This invitation has gone out to a large number of clubs. Approved that we become involved in with this event. They need some $130K pa.

That’s it for the week so let’s look after each other, stay safe and let’s do it.

Club Forum
- Given Rotary International will be increasing the fee our Club pays for your membership from $252 to $270 per member the Board has decided to increase our annual fee from $300 to $320 per member.
- Due to the cost of receiving the Rotary Down Under magazine Tony Makin has requested members to advise him if they wish to receive a hard copy, digital copy or no copy. Please respond to him.
- Storage - we have sold the two containers that were at Galston. Hills Storage have given us four months’ free storage. Riccardo Raad is giving us space in one of his sheds.
- We only have 16 members who are Centurions to date. It would be great to have all members as Centurions. Please donate $100 into the General Account and let Bob know.
- Our meetings at the Vicar seem to be working well. The Vicar is doing a great job setting up tables and chairs and providing us with what we need. There will be a 10 minute break in the middle of the meeting to allow members to mingle. We will look at getting a lectern for speakers.
- Visioning - all directors have put forward their 5 year plans.
- District Assembly - this was a successful event with break out rooms for the different portfolios.
- Youth Exchange - Janelle advised Georgia will be back from Chile in January. Iisa returns to Finland in June. It is a busy time as Northern Hemisphere students will be coming here in July. We have received an application from a young girl from Pennant Hills High School to go overseas. Her family will host an incoming exchange student. The Club has endorsed this application. The Club has accepted a girl from France for 2024/25.
- Fundraising - We have no director but members are happy to be on a fundraising committee. Please let Colin know if you would like to be on the committee.
- Trivia Night - Saturday 21 September. Looking for people to go on Trivia Night committee. Eight people put up their hands.
- Regionalisation - Niranjan Deodhar will be talking about this at Changeover Dinner on 21 June.
- Amendments to Club Directory - It was suggested that amendments to contact details be highlighted to avoid wading through directory to see what might be different. ‘What’s On’ app on phones is working well.
- Mentors need to do more, know what their responsibilities are. Exit interview forms will be prepared.
Neville handed back to Cawas who noticed a number of members were drinking wine during the meeting so there was a wine trivia quiz.

The Importance of Walking ... contributed by Neville
The importance of Walking
Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where he is
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.
I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing...
I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. I haven't lost a pound. Apparently, you have to go there.
Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.
The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'
If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years, just getting over the hill.
We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
AND
Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.
