From the 1894 Australian Household and General Information Handbook. Axle grease in the 1890s. - Axle Grease: For axle grease any household fat will do so long as all salt is washed out of it. Mutton tallow with a proportion of black lead worked into it makes a very good lubricant especially for heavy vehicles.
- Welcome members, partners and guests.
- Harold Sharp is unable to join us tonight for health reasons. We will run 1-2 Ted talks about how green electric vehicles are.
- West Pennant Hills Public School Fun Day. Thank you to David for organising it and to all who helped, especially those how helps on Saturday with preparation, and those who turned up at 7 am and those who stayed to clean-up. Lots of people present who were undeterred by a few light rain showers. The usual middle of the day queues occurred; the team kept up with demand. Elise had her first BBQ training session and is now a competent onion chef – still learning sausages and eggs.
- We tried a new initiative by advertising our BBQ and tool sale on social media.
- Just over $4000 for the school P&C is a fabulous result..
- We were offered another Castle Hill Bunnings BBQ for Sept 1. Unfortunately, Tony C was unable to raise sufficient volunteers, so we had to decline. It would have been a great opportunity to raise an easy $1500 or more.
Looking forward:
- Next Thursday night at 7.30 pm is a fundraising committee meeting at the Sharpe’s.
- Saturday Aug 24 Bunnings Castle Hill BBQ. Tony will speak to this later.

- Saturday Aug 24 is the first meeting of our Community Group. Neville and I will be attending as two representatives from the club are required.
- Trivia night is on September 21 Please start to put your tables together. The cost remains the same as last year at $25 per person. Full details are in the Bulletin and Keith is doing social medial promotion.
