President's Report |
Monday 10 February 2025 |

President’s introduction:
Welcome members and partners and especially Steve.
Condolences to Robyn and her family. Her dad passed away last week. The club has sent flowers to Robyn.
Anne and I went to Coonabarabran last Thursday/Friday to attend the funeral of Robert Cox a member of our sister Coonabarabran Club who passed away with occupational asbestosis two weeks ago. Some of you may remember Robert who led their Club’s food team at the annual Equestrian Expo.
Thank you to the Kenthurst lawnmowing team, Anne, George, Neville, Adrian and Gino who gave an hour of their time last Wednesday mowing, then spent 2 hours having coffee. This project is a wonderful example of club camaraderie.
Thank you to the members who are quietly working everyday taking phone calls and receiving books. In some cases, the books are also being culled into their (and their neighbour’s) yellow bins. I note our place is getting more books to cull than keep.
Thank you to Kerry and all who volunteered at last Saturday’s Bunnings BBQ. Kerry will speak more about this event later. Thank you especially to the cake bakers (Jill, Miriam, Janelle, Anne, Pat and Neville) who raised $860. Also, to Anne and Jill who ran the cake stall.
We held a very successful forum for Public Image Directors/Chairs last week. 10 of the 12 members of the Rotary Clubs of North West Sydney Community Group participated. A summary report is yet to be prepared.
In case you are wondering where Sue Moore is, I have confirmed that she is on extended leave of absence. However, she will be available to help at events as time permits.
The report Rosemary prepared about your feedback on the Club will be discussed at this week's Board Meeting.
Closing Remarks
- We will have 14 attending including Elise.

Night Report
Sergeant David called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to Hotel Pennant Hills.
Sergeant David called on Colin Sharpe to present President’s Report. Refer President’s Report in Bulletin.
Robyn Hain introduced our guest speaker, Marion Cornish. Marion is the current co-president of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Waters. She has lectured in Organisation Studies at Western Sydney University since 1991.
A researcher in corporate governance she recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy thesis titled ‘Social Capital of Not for Profit Directors in Australia’. She is an active contributor to the International Society for Third Sector Research and presents her research on disability services in Australia at their international conferences.
Marion spent 8 years as a flight attendant with Qantas which led to her interest and volunteering at HARS (Historical Aircraft Restoration Society) based at Shellharbour Airport, Albion Park. She conducts tours of their 747 OJA.
The Dakota, currently being restored there, from the Queen’s 1954 tour was piloted by Marion’s uncle, RAAF Air Vice Marshal Jack Cornish. She now insists his official title at HARS is ‘Uncle Jack’!
Tarmac Days are held outside the HARS hangars on the second Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every month. Members of the public are able to board and sit in some of the aircraft cockpits. You can have your photo taken in the seat occupied by the Queen on the Dakota back in 1954.
