Closing Remarks
So, Let’s stay safe look after each other and create some magic.
This week I have dredged up some advertisements from the 1950s-60s which may bring back some childhood memories.
- Welcome members, and partners.
- The Satisfaction Survey results were discussed last Monday night. A number of issues were raised. However. these, were not able to be properly captured and members were urged to participate in the two Focus Groups that were set up to capture this information. Subsequently members wanting to express their views only wanted to do so confidentially to one person. Rosemary has taken on the role. If you have concerns about the club, please speak to Rosemary. Thank you, Rosemary.
- This week it became evident to the Board that there is a lot of turbulence within the club. that has the potential to cause serious disruption to the ongoing sustainability of our Club. While it is inevitable that all Clubs may at times undergo such conflict, the intensity of the current situation is negatively impacting morale, relationships and membership viability, and ultimately taking members' focus away from our core 'business' - to serve others.
- The severity and urgency of this matter necessitated an extraordinary Board meeting last Thursday night to determine a way forward to resolve the current climate of unrest and discontent.
- Board members agreed that the District Conflict Management Team be asked to advise and assist our Club with this matter based on the breadth and depth of experience they can offer as well as the neutral perspective and transparency of operation they afford our membership. The Board is still awaiting advice from District although they have advised that the matter should not be discussed outside the Board, so no questions will be entertained.
- Thank you to the Street Library Installation gang. Tony M for constructing the library. David, Keith, Adrian and George for helping Tony install it at Helping Hearts Survive.
- Thanks to the C3 Church Barbeque team Anne, Tony M and David who braved the rain for 3 hours last Sunday. Not a lot of demand for their wares.
Looking forward:
Tree of Joy:
- Project running smoothly. The presents are being returned in large numbers now. Thank you to Keith and George the gift collectors for Cherrybrook. Thank you to Tony M and Steve who have been preparing the gifts for distribution at Janelle’s place. Thank you to Nicole and Sandra for collecting the gifts from Westleigh and Anne and Elise for preparing the gifts for distribution.
- Remember, the final preparation of presents is on Dec 12th at Janelle’s place starting at 7 pm. Janelle has promised nibbles and drinks. Due to the much smaller volume of presents from Westleigh no help will be needed at the Sharpe’s place.
Book Sale
- The Book sale committee had its first meeting. The first activity to put up the storage shelves in the Church Garage is on Jan 31. Robyn will be sending out information to all members about tasks that need to be done in the lead up to the sale.
Lawn Mowing - Kenthurst
- Thank you to the lawn mowing team for volunteering on Thursday 19 December so the lawns can be made nice for the tenants Christmas.
Closing Remarks
- We had 25 present tonight who had a fun night in a good venue. Thank you to Sandra and Janelle. The Pub has set up a new room that holds 40 seated and can be completely shut off from the rest of the Pub. Sandra will explore if this is an option for us in the future.
- Don’t forget you can see the Club Directory, “What’s On” and “Calendar” on your phone. If it is not working for you, let me know and it will be fixed for you.
- Don’t forget to let Sandra know if you are travelling or are not attending meetings so you do not get rostered on for meeting duties. All members are eligible for the duty roster and are assigned a role by Sandra. If you have a problem doing any of the duty roles let Sandra know as she is the only person who has control of duties. Your role is posted in the Bulletin and the Bulletin email 6 weeks in advance.
- Next week - December 16 we are back at the Vicar for our Kris Kringle. We will follow last year’s model and collect non-perishable food for Hands and Feet being run by Cherrybrook Uniting Church. You will have received an email from Anne with a list of suggested food.
So, Let’s stay safe look after each other and create some magic.

Night Report
A FUN EVENING FOR EVERYBODY.
Janelle gave a short welcome to everyone.
Colin Sharpe said thank you to Sandra and Anne for their contributions to the club and reminded everyone that the wrapping of presents from the Tree of Joy was being held at Janelle’s house this Thursday 12 December at 6.30pm and for everyone to come along and help as it is also a great fellowship evening.
Colin also gave a reminder of the Book Fair next year being organised by Robyn Hain and Robyn will be sending more information to the Committee members and helpers early next year.
A big thank you to Sandra for organising the Dingbat’s Food and Christmas Edition puzzles which tested everyone’s brains. We all did extremely well and enjoyed the prizes of chocolates.
There was also a Christmas Tree Decorating competition between the men and women. The men made a gallant effort but, of course, it was hands down a win by the women’s team.
Janelle made closing remarks re how well the Tree of Joy collections were going.
Finally, members were asked to share what they were grateful for in the club: Anne said how grateful she was for the Tree of Joy. Gwen said how much better she was feeling as she had not been well for a while and Allan Paynter thought that the Tree of Joy was the best idea the club had had..
Neville shared how himself and Janelle had dressed up as Santa and Mrs Claus at the Tree of Joy at Cherrybrook to bring a little Christmas cheer and put a smile of people's faces.
Next Monday is the Kris Kringle evening with hopefully a visit from Santa. Please bring along your dried food donations.
