President’s introduction
Welcome members. Welcome to our guest speaker Marie Copp standing in for Stacy Jane - Escabags for Women. Carol will introduce Marie later.
Ten attended the District Assembly last Saturday. All learnt a lot and had the opportunity to meet directors of other clubs. Some of the presentations especially the regionalisation update and how District is supporting clubs are worth sharing with club members, so that will happen when I get them. Janelle may wish to share her DV one.
Thank you to club members and partners who attended the Pavillion Theatre pre-opening night performance last Wednesday to support raising money for District 9685's Respectful Relationships Educational Scholarships. About 40 attended under the Carlingford Club umbrella, the rest were mostly from Lions. Between the raffle run by Janelle and Nevile and the money from tickets the event raised about $900.
We will run another Mark Huddleston Fit for Purpose video (Are we relationship material) tonight.
Closing Remarks
Next week is a face–to-face meeting with a face–to-face meeting with Sue Sweeney - Cavalcade of History and Fashion. With some 16,000 garments, the aim of the organisation is to preserve social and cultural history through fashion, and to take these items to people for their enjoyment. Go here for more. The Cavalcade of History and Fashion.
Directors, current and next year please prepare your reports and plans. They are due back to Keith by 1 June. I will send out the word version of this years report that you can use to help. Also, next year’s directors should start to assemble your committee. Club members can be on more than one committee.
Our sister club (Coonabarabran) will again be running their food kiosk at the North West Equestrian Expo (the schoolkids, mostly NSW) from May 30 to June 3. Anne and I will be going to assist. It is a great experience if you have not been before. But you need to book accommodation now.
Thank you to Tony C, Adrian, Janelle and Mr David for taking the lead on the Democracy BBQ. Unfortunately Anne and I will be in NZ.
From the March/April District Newsletters.
If you do not have the “What’s on” and club calendar set up on your phone, please let Neville know so that a time can be arranged to do so.

So, Let’s stay safe look after each other and create magic.
My report tonight has a focus on the environment as April is Environment Month.
The following post from the Rotary Club of Ladner, Delta British Columbia, Canada 1 April 2025 gives a useful overview of Rotary’s focus on the Environment.
In April, Rotary puts a focus on the Environment, one of seven Areas of Focus. Amidst all the turmoil around us, as the global population reaching nearly eight billion, protecting the environment is increasingly important.
As we become distracted by the administration of our neighbour to the south, and perhaps even as we may feel some negative impact, we need to keep our eye on the ball of humanitarian service in the world.

We are committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
We empower communities to access grants and other resources, embrace local solutions, and spur innovation in an effort to address the causes and reduce the effects of climate change and environmental degradation.
We are qualified to take this initiative because we are a global group of problem solvers with diversified talents.
We have allocated $18.4 million in Foundation global grant funding over the past five years to environment-related causes through our support of community economic development and water, sanitation, and hygiene projects.
Your local Shires have a number of Environment focused events. Go here for Hornsby Shire. Calendar of Events | Hornsby Shire Council and here for the Hills Your Environment | The Hills Shire Council
